    I can imagine using php to "enable a script to generate other scripts", if the OP is OK with using PHP as the primary generator-script. The question is tagged bash, and probably assumes a shell as the generator, but mentions perl, which seems to me to open the door to using other scripting languages. Commented Jul 29, 2020 at 13:26
