Update on Skills and Growth Levy (Apprenticeship levy) has undergone significant changes in the recent Budget announced by the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, on 26th November 20025. Headlines are; Removal of 10% levy top up: Levy-paying employers will no longer receive a 10% government top-up. Shorter expiry window: Levy funds will now expire after 12 months instead of 24 months. New Growth and Skills Levy: The levy has been renamed and proposals will allow employers to utilise new shorter training courses or ‘apprenticeship units’ from April 2026. Government co-investment: Once Levy-paying employers have exhausted their funds, from April 2026, the government will only provide 75% of the required funding, reduced from 95%. Therefore, Levy-paying employers would be expected to contribute 25% co-investment. At Impact Academy we aim to support employers in reshaping how they plan, fund and deliver apprenticeships.
