Today, we are reporting a strong first quarter, in which revenue grew by 1.9% and profit grew by 77% to €351 million, reflecting continued strong demand for our networks and airline brands. While the first quarter was largely unaffected by the conflict, we have already taken action to manage ongoing uncertainty by redeploying capacity from the Middle East, reducing controllable costs and continuing to deliver our transformation programme. Based on current prices, we now expect our fuel bill to increase by around €2 billion this year. Importantly, we do not anticipate any fuel supply issues across our main hubs or markets, and we are confident in fuel availability through the summer. Customers can be assured that IAG airlines will be operating full and busy summer schedules. IAG is uniquely positioned to navigate this environment. While higher fuel costs will impact profits in the near term, we remain confident in our business model and strategy and over the longer term, we believe this period will further reinforce IAG’s leadership position.

We support expansion at Heathrow but not at any cost. The UK needs an efficient, affordable hub airport that allows UK based airlines to compete with those at hubs abroad. It is essential not only to our business but to the UK’s connectivity and economic prosperity. Having modelled what is deliverable for the aviation industry, we have asked Government to place a £30 billion cap on expansion. Analysis of Heathrow Airport Limited’s 20-year capital plans by Heathrow Reimagined: A Better Hub for Britain. shows that total spending by Heathrow Airport Limited associated with expansion could exceed £100bn once ongoing maintenance, project uncertainty, terminal redevelopment and surface access infrastructure are taken into account. There needs to be an absolute maximum budget, tighter controls on capital spending to ensure charges per passenger remain nearly flat before, during and after expansion, and genuine competition to help keep costs down. Expansion should support growth while remaining affordable for passengers and airlines. The full breakdown by the Heathrow Reimagined Campaign of Heathrow Airport Limited’s spending plans over the next 20 years can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/ek6ypTMB

Aviation is about people. In a recent interview with International Air Transport Association (IATA) Airlines Magazine, IAG CEO Luis Gallego shares why the human element remains central to aviation, even as technology and AI continue to transform the industry. Innovation is essential, but its true value lies in how it enables people to deliver better outcomes for other people. As the sector evolves, scale, collaboration and shared data will be critical to improving operational performance, managing costs and building long-term resilience. British Airways opens Speedbird Pilot Academy British Airways’ fully-funded pilot training scheme has opened applications for the fourth year running, with an £18m commitment for up to 160 aspiring pilots. Almost one in four UK adults say they would have considered becoming an airline pilot if training had been fully funded, with 87% highlighting that they had never heard of programmes that cover the cost of pilot training – underlining the importance of initiatives like the Speedbird Pilot Academy. The programme, which sees British Airways covering the £100,000 training cost for those who land a spot, closes on Thursday 23 April 2026. Outreach initiatives inspire future talent and create accessible pathways into aviation. Through partnerships and targeted programmes, we are engaging communities who may not have traditionally considered a career in aviation. Last year, over 190 cadet pilot training positions were opened across Aer Lingus, British Airways and Iberia – all offering financial support to remove barriers to entry.

Aer Lingus next IAG airline to go live with Starlink Aer Lingus customers flying on Flight EI105, travelling from Dublin to New York on Sunday 29 March, were the first to be treated to Starlink's ultra-fast connectivity, from take-off to touchdown. Customers in every cabin were able to use this innovative technology, enabling them to seamlessly access free, fast, reliable internet for streaming, working, gaming, and staying connected. Aer Lingus becomes the second airline at IAG to successfully install Starlink as we work towards implementing this across all IAG airlines as part of our transformation programme, driven by innovation.
