I’m proud to welcome Steve Thomas to the BVIUK Expert Member network. For those who know the UK valuation landscape, Steve’s name needs no introduction. For years, he was the force behind HM Revenue & Customs’s Shares and Assets Valuation office - not just shaping technical direction, but guiding policy, mentoring top-tier valuers, and representing the UK at the highest levels of professional dialogue. His final role as Assistant Director saw him lead HMRC’s Litigation Team, advising on some of the most complex, high-stakes valuation matters in the country. He was among the first HMRC valuers to be awarded full RICS membership in business and intangible asset valuation - an achievement that speaks not just to experience, but to rigour, credibility, and cross-sector respect.
