Yesterday, it was announced that the Autumn Budget will take place on 26 November 2025🗓️. Our research from the Barclays Business Prosperity Index reveals that while two in five (43%) UK businesses surveyed are expecting to increase investment once the Autumn Budget measures are announced, over half (55%) are opting to delay investment decisions until the Chancellor’s statement has been made, so that any implications can be assessed. This important initiative seeks to help raise awareness about the importance of investing for people’s future financial wellbeing, and the value it brings to the economy. Today, just 10% of UK households directly own shares and Barclays’ data shows that UK adults hold an estimated £430 billion in cash savings, which could be invested better. I look forward to working with partners across industry and the public sector to reshape the UK’s investment culture and support a vibrant, growing economy.
