I've been wanting share my solo process for emotional processing in case it's helpful for anyone. I've been using it for the last few months and it's the most effective I've landed on yet but these things evolve so I want to share it while it's still alive for me...

I told my family that I try to get 9 hours of sleep and it created so much outrage that we were talking about it for ages. they said I'm wasting 1-2 hours of my life everyday but I've tested this! I am so much more human when I get the amount that my body needs.

I have this very loose rule of thumb (idk how correct it is, but it’s a helpful heuristic), it’s something like for any new thing eg: relationship, friendship, work/job, awakening experience, hobby etc, it takes ~2 years to clearly know if things are as they seem. so in the…

it’s been helpful for me lately to reengage with the idea that if there’s a pattern in life that I say I don’t want but it keeps happening over and over again, then it must mean that a) there’s an unfelt emotion I’m avoiding and b) that something in me is benefiting from it…

the moment i realised that friendships could offer the same kind of nourishment that I thought only romance could offer, my world opened up by about 50 times.

a fascinating realisation I’ve had is that when you’re feeling a strong emotion, if you sit down and close your eyes and feel it, you will likely see a “random” memory, and if you investigate the memory, you realise that you were experiencing the same emotion in that memory.

I made self-love a targeted goal for about 3 years and it was the highest payoff project/investment of my life. rough process: - dissolve the negative inner voice - rewire my brain / nervous system to feel safe - become embodied - develop emotional fluidity

Lastly, I def don’t know everyone who achieved this, but I personally don’t know anyone who got there without making it a targeted goal and aiming right at it with a high tolerance for risk. It might not be worth it for you to try- and humanity should work hard to make it safer

have you tried just saying flat out what you want? instead of trying to find the politest words, without hedging, without bracing for rejection, without guessing what they think you want?

a couple of years ago, I was going through a bout of regular procrastination so I decided to journal every time I found myself procrastinating. soon I realised that almost every entry started with "I'm so tired today" and often followed with "I feel so low today"

I've been overthinking sharing my break-up learnings, so here it is. everything I learned. context: we were together for 13 years. we knew it wasn't quite working out anymore and whatever we had tried before wasn't going to work this time. I had asked joe hudson, do 20+ year...

I realised that not getting enough sleep had a significant impact on my mood and my mood had an impact on how much work I could get done. so even though I "loose" time to sleep, I get more done in the end.

meantime it’s very easy to start forming an identity around that new thing, but things are usually not as they seem. it’s very easy to fool oneself. I think that is fine, normal and to be expected but it’s also helpful for me to have this heuristic in the back of my mind while
