Kallus wished he still had the meteorite from Bahryn. It had sat on a shelf in his quarters, never far from his side after the night he spent with Zeb on that moon. He hadn’t had it on his person when he jettisoned himself from the Chimaera and joined the Rebel fleet. At night, he would still sometimes reach for where he’d kept it, only to find no warmth. But now, now he could reach out and touch real warmth instead. It didn’t take much of a stretch. Their bed was smaller than they needed and Zeb was a large creature. Zeb also always needed to be touching Kallus in some way whenever he slept. It could be a hand, an elbow, hips, knee…didn’t matter, but Zeb could never sleep without a part of him touching a part of Kallus. Strange how they had fallen into a routine that made it difficult to be apart. They could do it—they did do it—but they always felt safer together.

Zeb’s ears flattened again, his eyes narrowing. “Are you trying to start a fight?” “No.” “Why’d you look so smug saying that?” A laugh slipped out of Kallus as he held his arms out in innocence, a gesture to show he had nothing up his sleeve, no notorious intentions. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “You’re riling me up.” Kallus would indeed like to see Zeb riled up. Though perhaps not in the same ways as he had in the past. “I think you’re just being sensitive.” Zeb’s ears fully flattened and set aside his rifle. “Listen here,” he said, pointing a clawed finger at Kallus, leaning forward into the small space between them. Kallus’s eyes caught the blue flickering of the hyperspace lane as Zeb peered into them. “I’m listening,” Kallus prodded after Zeb went quiet. The Lasat blinked, curling his finger into the collar of Kallus’s jacket. The air in the cabin felt suddenly awfully warm.
What did she like about John? Besides his obvious flaws, which she found intriguing, she liked…she liked his competence. He was capable, at least in a large portion of his life. He did not seem so capable in facing his own emotions, which she witnessed as she stalked him for Valentina, but neither was she really. There was also an easy way about their banter. He rose to the challenge instead of getting pissed off like the few other men she’d tried talking to over the years. John had an ego, yeah, but he also was practically begging for companionship and approval from those around him. Ava didn’t mind that—at least it was something consistent. And there was vulnerability there too—during their conversations in the desert, in the box truck, even after, before the Void wrecked havoc over the city. The soft broken parts behind his brilliantly blue eyes shined brightly, and they (sometimes) seemed to burn a bit more brightly when they were sparring with words.

WIP Wednesday

since it is actually THE DAY, tagged by @commander-writergirl <3 i'll share snippets of all of my current projects 🫣 i'm writing a lot more than i have been!

Ghostwalker

When John came back to the tower a few days later, he was sans-wedding ring, wearing a henley and a flannel to stave off the growing cold of the season. Duffle over his shoulder, he nodded to Yelena as she headed down toward the elevator he’d just vacated.

“Back so soon? I was just getting used to not having you around,” she teased, twisting around to give him a smirk.

“Ha, ha, very funny. You seen Ava?”

Yelena’s eyebrow raised and she shoved down a nasty retort before simply saying, “Nope” with a popped ‘p’ before stepping into the elevator.

Kalluzeb

Kallus put his hands on Zeb's thighs.

"What're you doing?" Zeb grumbled, eyes focusing in on the human invading his personal space.

"Hm, I thought this is what you were alluding to," Kallus said, leaning his weight on Zeb's legs.

Zeb swallowed hard. "I never allude to anything."

Kallus smirked. "Okay, then."

Zeb's hands were large. He didn't need more than one to slide over the back of Kallus's head, fingers carding through his hair. Kallus braced himself, one hand on Zeb's thigh, the other pressed to his collarbone.

Kallus had never wondered or asked if Lasat kissed or how their affection worked, but Zeb kissed just the same as any other man and Kallus strengthened his hold. Zeb's other hand grabbed Kallus's waist, claws prickling, pulling them close, Kallus settled between Zeb's legs.

Fives/Essani (SW OC)

Essani’s heart swelled at the familiar matte blue Kama stripes and double pauldrons in the room. She crossed her arms, leaning against the doorway. Sensing her presence—or maybe just trying to find the source blocking the hallway light—Fives turned. His aura crackled in response, agitated into a happy, surprised, aroused storm.

She grinned.

He rested a hand on his hip. “Look what the rancor dragged in.”

She pressed a hand to her chest, looking hurt. “Ouch, a rancor? Would never get the jump on me.”

Fives stopped in front of her. Curious clones watched, most of them not knowing who she was. “What’re you doing here?”

“Working. Escorted Senator Ach to Hobi.”

Fives stepped closer, forcing her into the hall, away from the clones’ battle planning room. Essani moved with him but peeked around his shoulder. “What’re you planning?”

“Republic business,” he said, though there was a lightness to his tone.

The air was electric. Essani wanted to push him into the nearest closet and kiss him until her face hurt. The intensity surprised her, but she wasn’t alone in feeling it.

“Recon soon as we get to Farway Station.” His hand brushed her bare arm.

How dare he. “Alone?” She tried not to sound hopeful.

Tup/Kez (SW OC)

“You know, you are not all the same,” Kez found himself saying. “The Republic Clone army.”

“Yeah, we talked about that already,” Tup said, eyes closed, enjoying the presence of another person near him. And not just near, but near. Skin-to-skin, the heat of their exercise still thrumming through their veins, the casual way Kez was draped around him. He didn’t feel like a soldier here.

Kez let the silence grow and then felt compelled to speak to fill it. “Where I grew up, everyone was different. Twi’lek, human, Rodian, Zabrak, Weequay, Trandoshan; whoever was around. The galaxy, I think, sometimes feels very narrow, and sometimes you see so many people who are unlike you that you feel very small and the universe feels endless.”

“Hmm. My world feels very small. Nothing but battle after battle.”

“Coruscant is vibrant, hmm? Lots of different people are here.”

“That’s true.” Tup absently reached up, gently brushing against the tip of Kez’s lekku. The larger man tensed slightly. “Sorry,” Tup said quickly, snatching his hand back. “I didn’t think—I know this is…”

Kez laughed lightly. “No need for sorry. You can touch me all you want, Sad Man.”

“Yeah. Don’t much think that everything happens for a reason, mind you.” Zeb’s gaze went momentarily hard on the horizon, then slid across to Kallus, who accepted the hardness, blame, and anger silently. But then it was gone in a blink. “I think people control their actions but maybe there is some big Force out there plucking the strings for us.” “Maybe,” Kallus said, once again quiet. He sat up, criss-crossing his legs, resting his hands on his knees. Zep pressed his mouth into a thin line. The next few silent minutes felt different, shifted from before. “Why’d you come out here, Kallus?” “Dunno. It just felt…right.” “The Force,” Zeb said flatly. Kallus shrugged a shoulder. “Or me choosing my own actions.” Zeb grunted.
“Wow, I didn’t know you had a body under that suit.” John’s face was already healed–faded and gone. Didn’t even leave a visible scar. Bastard. “Haha, very funny,” Ava said, rolling her eyes at him where he leaned over the island, elbows grinding into the sharp edge of the countertop. “You know, for some reason I was thinking you could never take off the suit,” John said, eyeing her cozy sweats. Ava arched a sharp eyebrow. “You were thinking about me out of my suit?” John almost blushed. It was adorable. His ears turned red.

the boys who have taken over my goddamn brain!!!!!

*“Tu’enna” roughly translates to ‘beloved’, but like as a title or a declaration not a petname. (It is similar to saying ‘my spouse’.) Tu’enna comes from Twileki, though it has been cycled through so many iterations of Bocce on Ogarth Station that is now has the same meaning for everyone who calls the station home, no matter their species.

(tup art by @green-tea-gatorade used with permission; kez art commissioned from @stealingpotatoes)

this template is sweet and cute, but i'm rereading my 'kez and tup meet up post-umbara' fic/chapter/thing and it's so friggen sweet and melancholy

By the time Tup had showered, put on the plainclothes that stocked the room and Kez had cleaned the tub and rinsed himself off too, it was late and the bedroom felt cold. Tup sat on the edge of the bed, palms pressed together, index fingers against his forehead. Kez stopped to stand in front of him, wearing a pair of too-small cotton pants, the waistband stretched across his hips. He reached out a hand and placed it on Tup’s drying hair. The clone sighed and leaned, looping his arms around Kez’s waist and pressing his face against his bare torso. Kez stroked his hair. “’T’was awful,” Tup mumbled. “All’s you need to know.” “I am sorry,” Kez said, even though the words were hollow. How could he be sorry for anything that happened outside of this room? It was his domain and he manipulated it well. But outside of these walls? His and Tup’s lives were divergent in the most extreme ways. “Can you just…stay for now?” Tup asked, tilting his head back, chin resting against Kez’s stomach. “Of course, Sad Man,” Kez said with a small smile. “I will stay.” Tup had felt small in that moment when all the clones realized what they’d been manipulated into doing on the battlefield. And he felt small here laying in a bed on an industry planet, but it was a different kind of small. A kind of small in which he wasn’t alone and there was warmth. Not just because Kez was the same color as pale sunlight, but because there was safety as such he didn’t, couldn’t, get even from his commanding officers, his brothers. Tup curled onto his side and Kez held him close. The coldness in the room shifted into something akin to cozy, and Tup once again found himself falling asleep. He clutched at Kez’s arm, an anchor. Kez let him sleep, slept some himself. Hours ticked by and their breathing and hearts synchronized in rhythm. Tup felt warm and safe when he woke up eventually, half on his side, half on his stomach. Kez was pressed against his back, one of his legs tangled between Tup’s, a heavy arm still holding him close, one lek draped across Tup’s neck, resting comfortably there. Tup held his breath and closed his eyes, wanting to stay in the fantasy of the moment when he knew he’d have to get going soon. He didn’t need to see a clock to know it. He stayed still for at least another ten minutes before moving ever so slightly. Using his left arm, he lifted Kez’s lek and pressed his soft, warm lips to the spiderwebbing of patterns. Kez shifted a little behind him, inching toward consciousness. He cracked his eyes open, keeping his body steady and heavy where it was. “What are you doing, Sad Man?” he asked, voice thick from sleep. The rumble stirred something in Tup. “Giving you somethin’ to think about,” he said.

*clutches chest* i'm sooooo normal about them. my emotions are totally chill and average.

“What did you see?” Alexei asked, voice desperate. John hesitated, the sinking feeling of bearing witness to his own shortcomings drying his mouth and making him twitchy. “Walker, what did you see?” Ava pushed up close to him, forcing him to step back, back hitting the wall. Despite her intensity, her eyes did not show chaos and anger, but desperation to do good. She wanted to save Yelena, someone who didn’t believe in anybody but Bob, who thought so lowly of herself even though it truly was her that kept them all together in the first place. John swallowed hard. “It was…I don’t know, a memory. A…my memory, something different. Like it was a memory but I was there, me, like right now. I went somewhere, I can’t explain it.” “Magic…” Alexei muttered from the corner. “Or…Valentina messing with things she doesn’t understand,” Bucky sighed. He pinched the bridge of his nose. “What did you see?” Ava asked again, quieter this time, not giving him any space to get away. He wet his lips and shook his head. “Nothing good.”

Ava could sense [Bob's] unease and the shift in him like it was palpable. She didn’t like it. It felt like they were balancing on a knifepoint. John was a big fan of shoot-first-questions-later, and his hand was poised over his gun, ready for the first instance of possibility. Those two found themselves continuously drawn to each other. Like a magnetic pull between twin planets, Ava was always moving toward him, or him toward her, no matter where in the room they are, they always seem to find a way to be near. Ava tried not to think about it too much, how it happened subconsciously, but how she noticed. She noticed how he went from one side of the room all the way to the other, to stand next to her.  Maybe it was because John was a protector and it was the most strategic place, or maybe…maybe… She hid her hitched breath beneath her thick suit and let her confusion hide anything else. “Have you dyed your hair?” Ava asked.

Day 7 of @clonexocweek Theme: Free Space / A good memory Info about my OC Essani here (also briefly featuring another OC/clone couple, Kez and Tup in their first mention together) Fic snippet length: 1450 words

(all of my things are a little late, i didn't realize this was happening but wanted to share! all of these will be snippets of full chapters i'm working on for a full fic.)

this one is a snippet of fives and essani's "first date" which does not involve blaster fire.

featuring this small, resized commissioned art by @cobaltbeam from 5 years ago that isn't a 1x1 to this scene but fits pretty much all of the vibes. 🥰

Essani had never been 79s—for while she was friendly and worked often with many clones, she had never had a reason to intrude. But since she was invited…she half-worried she would stand out, but it was less of a true worry and more of an observation.

She took a cab, not wanting to ruin her outfit with the ride on her speeder. The place was loud and busy lit up like a casino and overfilling with clones. As she stepped off onto the platform, she spotted troopers, commanders, officers, and just in a single sweep, a handful of non-clones, obviously there for various forms of entertainment and companionship.

Needless to say, one blue-skinned Pantorian did not stand out.

Slipping through the front doors, she scanned the space, as per habit. The main floor had a bar, arcade consoles and tables. The second floor seemed to also have tables and another bar. And if her intel was correct, the remaining two floors were private rooms—it wasn’t like the clones had personal dwellings to return back to.

There were at least a dozen Twi’lek, humans and near-humans buzzing around the place, drinking and laughing with the clones. She knew some were probably paid to be here, but couldn’t help but feel that some were there because they actually considered clones to be war heroes. Good. Essani did too.

She recognized a number of clones in the space too—it seemed there were a number from 501st: Jesse and Kix at a table playing dejarik, Tup at a standing table flirting with a bare chested yellow skinned Twi’lek who must have been from Coruscant because he did not carry on the Rhyloth trend of filing his teeth; she even recognized Thorn, who had been on her very first run with Skywalker where she’d first met Echo and Fives. She knew he worked on Coruscant now and had seen him sometimes.

And of course, sitting together, drinking and chatting, were the inseparable duo themselves: Fives and Echo. Their auras were clear and light, probably the lightest she’d ever seen which filled her own heart with a kind of light pull that drew to toward their table.

Her heart a trilling bird, she picked her way through the crowd, catching Echo’s eye and tapping her lips with a finger to signal him not to spook Fives. She gave him a wink and his eyes flicked back to his brother, continuing the conversation they were having.

Day 5 & 6 of @clonexocweek Theme: Happy ending / Five years later / Alternate Universe (No Order 66) Info about my OC Essani here Fic snippet length: 461 words

(all of my things are a little late, i didn't realize this was happening but wanted to share! all of these will be snippets of full chapters i'm working on for a full fic.)

this is part of my 'fives saves the galaxy' au in which order 66 doesn't happen and this one gives me many, many feelings.

In the years right after it all, Fives would have nightmares and Essani would get up and comfort him. She still woke each time, and sometimes he did ask for comfort, but sometimes he went out for a run or did what he did tonight, which was meticulously disassemble and clean his weapons.

When Essani woke up naturally, a few hours later, Fives was finishing up gun number three. She kept her eyes slitted, watching him through her lashes. In the five years since their flight from Coruscant, Fives had aged a decade. There were a few shots of gray in his hair and, thanks to actual food and a little less time on the battlefield, his form had filled out his wide shoulders and barrel chest, all muscle with body fat to keep him going and to make him the best cuddling partner ever.

Essani moved a little, signaling she was awake and reached a hand out toward him over the covers. She said nothing, but smiled warmly.

Fives placed the weapon down and looked over at her. “What’re you smiling about?” He asked, his own small smile on his face. Her hair was mussed, her skin always a little paler in the morning, making her tattoos really stand out.

Essani wanted to say I love watching you work or Come back to bed or simply I love you, but instead what came out was, “Do you want to get married?”

Fives’s eyebrows rose and Essani scrambled to a seated position. His mind tumbled through responses as she got to her feet wearing only a simple shirt. I can’t was his first reaction but then he remembered he was a citizen now. You’re going to outlive me, was the second. But she stood in front of him, eyebrows quirked and placed a hand on the curve of his neck and he said, “Yes” without thinking.

Her hesitant smile turned to a full grin. “Yes?”

He gripped her hips, pulling her closer, forehead resting against her sternum, voice muffled by her torso. “Yes.”

She wrapped her arms around his head and hugged him before he leaned back a little and she kissed him. “We…we should figure out where.” Her golden eyes danced.

“Coruscant?” He knew her family didn’t like to leave the planet.

“We need to get everyone together,” she agreed, already making a list in her head. “My family…your family.”

He nodded, not making a list, massaging her hips under his hands and humming. “Yeah. Later.”

“Later?” She was distracted by the lists! And the logistics and—

Fives grabbed her face in his hands and kissed her as he stood which was a great distraction. Better than lists. She yelped and grabbed for his shirt to steady herself.

Day 4 of @clonexocweek Theme: Look at Me Fic snippet length: 957 words

Kez is a Twi'lek that Tup met on Coruscant. The two of them are mentioned in the background of my Jedi OC Essani and Fives fic/world, and this is actually the first full scene I have written for these two. I kind of am in love with Kez, he's very fun to write.

Tup didn’t need to go into the hanger bay on his patrol, but he was bored and not tired so he continued to do a sweep. They were in a hyperspace lane currently, having retrieved some supplies from a nearby station before continuing on to yet another section of the Mid Rim.

He didn’t expect anything to happen on his patrol, but the clones still ran the same routines to stay sharp. Gave them less time to think about everything else they were put through day in and day out.

Beneath his helmet, a frown had formed between his brows when he noticed movement in one of the bays. He stepped out of line and peered around a bomber to see a larger shuttle, painted in an understated dark brown and yellow. It was unusual to see non-military grade ships aboard a cruiser, but not unheard of.

Who had to be the pilot was currently tinkering with something around the exit ramp. Tup’s hands tightened on his blaster.

But then the stranger came into focus: a tall, muscular Twi’lek, long lekku brushing to his waist, covered in intricate designs a few shades darker than his light yellow skin.

Tup’s grip grew slack and his blaster fell to his side. “Kez?” he asked, pulling off his helmet.

Day 3 of @clonexocweek Theme: Injury Info about my OC Essani here Fic snippet length: 418 words

(all of my things are a little late, i didn't realize this was happening but wanted to share! all of these will be snippets of full chapters i'm working on for a full fic.)

this one is one of the newer short sequences i've been writing. it takes place closer to the end of the war.

Essani woke like she was swimming up for air. She felt heavy and slow, but she knew she was safe so her walls were down. She felt the mild pain of the men around her and then--

"Hey, baby." Fives's concern sliced through it all.

Essani blinked against the bright light and felt the brush of his fingers against her cheek. "Fives…" She pushed herself to full consciousness and then propped up on her elbows. "What're you doing here? Are you okay?"

Nothing about his body language or aura said he was injured, but since they'd just been through battle, it wasn't unlikely he got hurt too.

"Me? Essani, you have a hole in your leg."

She grimaced and glanced down at the bacta glove over her leg. "I'll survive."

He shook his head, an amused curl to his lips. "You Jedi…"

"Were you worried about me?" She raised an eyebrow.

"You don't usually get hurt," he said, as if their first moments alone together weren't marred by her being injured. "Of course I was worried."

I'm not a Jedi Knight, I'm only playing at this thing, she thought then shook her thoughts away. "I appreciate the concern, but I'm okay. Kix is a good medic."

"Yeah," Fives agreed, hand still cupping her cheek. "He said you stayed up and helped take down a whole slew of clankers before casevac."

"Just because I couldn't walk didn't mean I couldn't fight. The Force is always with me," she said. And a few blasters.

He smiled at her tenacity. "Knew there was a reason I liked you." He leaned down to kiss her before resting his forehead against hers for a moment. "We're still above planet, but there's negotiations going on down there."

"And you're up here?"

"I ain't one for negotiating," he reminded.

"Ah, of course." She smiled lightly.

He lingered, eyes on her face, hand dancing across her collarbones. "I should let you rest."

She wanted to protest that she was fine, but he needed rest too. So she held her tongue and sat back, squeezing his hand as he let go. "See you when this is all over?"

"Yeah."

"I'll have a nice big scar," she added, a point of pride instead of failure.

Fives glanced down at her leg then back at her. "All the best soldiers have 'em." He nudged her chin and they shared a soft look before he disappeared. In his place, a medical droid came over to ask how she was feeling.
