Sustainable Development Policies
Our company has the following policies implemented: Environmental, Social, Anti-corruption, and Sustainable Development. Our manufacturing plants apply modern environment protection standards, the percentage of power from renewable sources grows, the system of corporate governance and production safety continuously evolves.
Updates to the sustainable development agenda and understanding of the contribution towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals pose an incentive for TMH to increase investment into production and environmentally and socially oriented projects.
TMH does not limit itself to the 9 selected goals and will look for capacity to widen its contribution to the global sustainability as it gets more involved into the transformation.
Setting the Goals
Out of 17 sustainable development goals, outlined by the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2015 titled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” a few were selected with regards to the production processes’ specifics and assessment by experts to focus TMH’s efforts.

The outlook is stable. The rating has been updated due to the transition to the unified rating scale. Previously, the company was rated at ESG-II(c) and ESG-A in accordance with the Bank of Russia's stable outlook scale.
The efforts of the company were assessed in three blocks – the impact on the environment, the society, and the corporate governance.
According to the agency, the Environment Block had a moderately positive impact on the rating. The experts note the reduction of atmospheric emissions, regular landscaping activities, a highly efficient waste management system, and the introduction of an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015.
The Society Block also had a moderately positive impact on the rating. The agency highlights favorable working conditions, low staff turnover, and efforts on improving the infrastructure of the cities, where the production plants are located.
The impact on the rating of the Management Block is assessed as neutral. The Expert Agency notes changes in the corporate governance system - the inclusion of an independent member to the Board of Directors, as well as the creation of a collegial executive body in the form of a Management Board.

Representatives of the State Duma, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, VEB Corporation, PPK REO, Rosatom, Russian Railways, TMH, Sber, and others participated in the event.
TMH Director for Industrial Safety and Sustainable Development Pavel Morozov: “The preparation of non–financial reports, disclosure of information on the costs of socially oriented projects, the environmental impact of enterprises, and other aspects of the impact on residents of regions and localities is an important opportunity for businesses to speak the same language as the society, the government, and the partners. The responsible businesses implement recommendations on disclosure of basic information and are ready to comply with perspective legislative requirements.
In July 2023, Expert RA rating agency confirmed TMH’s ESG rating at ESG-II(c), meaning a very high level of compliance with sustainable development interests when making key decisions. The rating outlook is stable.

These treatment facilities, procured as part of TMH’s 2022 investment program, were installed in the shunting diesel locomotive workshop of the plant. The project is a part of the implementation strategy of the TMH Sustainable Development Policy, adopted in 2022. Among other things, the document outlines obligations for the environmentally conscious use of water resources.
Local treatment facilities collect acidic and alkaline waste solutions, resulting from the chemical processing of parts, and purify them in reactors using various reagents. They are equipped with sedimentation tanks, filters, pumps, and level sensors with an overfill alarm. The uninterrupted operation of the equipment is ensured by operators.
New treatment facilities make it possible to obtain technically purified water at the outlet, which, by its composition, is suitable for discharge into the city sewer collector. As a result, the number of species generated at the liquid waste phosphating line has decreased, and the company's costs for waste management have also decreased.
In 2022, over 6 million rubles were allocated to the Bryansk plant for minimizing the negative impact on the environment. Projects aimed at improving the environment are also being carried out as part of the modernization of production. Since 2015, the plant has installed new paint and shot blasting chambers, which made it possible to reduce the level of atmosphere pollutant emissions.

Expert Business Solutions analytics agency rated TMH’s efforts on sustainable development information disclosure as very high. Its representatives presented TMH with a diploma "For Leadership in ESG Transparency Among
Mechanical Engineering Companies". The award ceremony was held as part of the ESG Transparency: Reinventing conference, which was attended by representatives of major Russian companies.
Previously, TMH synchronized its policies with the principles of environmental, social and corporate responsibility, and also went through the full range of agency’s evaluation procedures, which involved filling out questionnaires,
studying policy documentation, visiting production sites and interviewing heads of departments. As a result, the company was given an ESG-II(c) rating.
TMH Director for Operational Safety and Sustainable Development Pavel Morozov represented the company at the conference: “Receiving this rating has become a milestone in our self-assessment process and has given an additional
impetus to the implementation of ESG principles in the company.”
He also believes that the demand for disclosure of ESG data will remain both in the domestic and foreign markets. “Our customers are among the consumers of ESG data. Russian Railways has been disclosing data on greenhouse
gas emissions for many years. For large cities that order transport products, the environmental aspect of products is important. An integral part of this information are reports on production processes, supply chains. External ratings allow consumers to receive
objective information about compliance to ESG's principles, and for shareholders they serve as confirmation of the minimization of possible risks,” he emphasized.

As a part of it, ESG Awards Russia 2022 united over 300 companies’ corporate governance and sustainable development projects for evaluation by the business community.

The mission of the alliance is to promote the transition to sustainable economic development ensuring the conservation of the nature, the well-being of society and the long-term prosperity of business, based on the goodwill, cooperation and partnership of all parties involved.
The National ESG Alliance is conceived as a permanent platform for dialogue and involvement of all stakeholders, the exchange of knowledge and experience between the business, government and society, the development and promotion of new ESG norms and standards, including industry guidelines, the formation of a common assessment framework and reporting, development of transformative partnerships, interaction and implementation of common programs to achieve sustainable development goals, and investment support for breakthrough ESG transformation projects.
The proposal to create an alliance to unite the efforts of leading companies in ESG transition was first discussed at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September 2021. It was actively supported by leading Russian enterprises.

Sberbank President, Chairman of the Board German Gref: “While discussing the issues of social projects, transparent and efficient management and environmental conservation, we concluded that businesses, primarily the largest ones, need to join forces to promote this agenda in the country. We realized that we must work on creating a regulatory framework, standards, rules for checking these standards, developing new legislation that encourages all market participants to ESG conversion, and lobbying the national interests of Russia and domestic business in the international arena. We put these key tasks in the basis of the founding documents of the ESG Alliance. Today, the original founders include 28 companies representing more than 18 sectors of the Russian economy. The Alliance is formed on a voluntary basis, and we encourage business representatives to join it. Our experience shows that such voluntary associations on serious business issues are fruitful. And it seems to me that this initiative can turn out to be a very useful and effective solution for promoting Russia in terms of the ESG agenda.”

The proposal to create an alliance to unite the efforts of leading companies in ESG transition was first discussed at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in September 2021. It was actively supported by leading Russian enterprises.

Sberbank President, Chairman of the Board German Gref: “While discussing the issues of social projects, transparent and efficient management and environmental conservation, we concluded that businesses, primarily the largest ones, need to join forces to promote this agenda in the country. We realized that we must work on creating a regulatory framework, standards, rules for checking these standards, developing new legislation that encourages all market participants to ESG conversion, and lobbying the national interests of Russia and domestic business in the international arena. We put these key tasks in the basis of the founding documents of the ESG Alliance. Today, the original founders include 28 companies representing more than 18 sectors of the Russian economy. The Alliance is formed on a voluntary basis, and we encourage business representatives to join it. Our experience shows that such voluntary associations on serious business issues are fruitful. And it seems to me that this initiative can turn out to be a very useful and effective solution for promoting Russia in terms of the ESG agenda.”
