"I grew up a PBS kid. I learned to count, and I learned about the alphabet from Sesame Street. I learned about my emotions in an ever-changing and crazy world through Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. As I got older, I would stare out the window with my telescope because I watched NOVA. And as somebody who loved music and theater, PBS was that access point for me and it continues to be an artistic access point to inspire millions across the country and across the globe. " -

“When I was in the fifth grade, I watched Paul Simon on Sesame Street. For the first time in my life, I heard 'Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.' That song introduced me to Paul Simon and really shaped my songwriting. I thought it was so beautiful, so catchy, and the lyrics told this wonderful story.

It made me want to get out of my geography class and go make music for the rest of my life.” -
