"Daddy is going to go to work now Youngjae, be good for your Daddy Jacks and be good at school. I'm not going to be there for your parent teacher conference, but I'll see you tomorrow morning, and we can spend all of Saturday together, after your soccer match ok?" Jaebum said with a smile, as the seven year old gave him a kiss. He picked the boy up and then smiled when his husband came in, 10 years they'd been married, and Jaebum still felt amazed by seeing his husband, he still felt enamored with the Hong Kong native. "Jacks, I have to go in 10." he said, smiling when Youngjae wriggled to get out of the hug with Jaebum to go play with his toys. He walked over to his husband and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. "I'm not going to be back until 8am. But if there are no fires, I can sleep at the station." Jackson nodded, he knew the drill. He'd married the firefighter. "I love you."

"Love you too Jae." Jackson sighs and then gives his husband another kiss. "You don't have to make him promises."

"Have I ever broken a promise to our son?" Jaebum eyed Jackson who shook his head.

"You know what I mean Jae, things happen" Jackson sighed a little, they had had many conversations about things that could go wrong, most of them happening when they were in the process of adopting their son. Jaebum wrapped his arms around Jackson and gave him a hard kiss.

"I've got you and Youngjae to come back to, nothing is going to happen, now you have a good day, and I expect you to text my updates, especially about his parent teacher conference." Jaebum pulled back and walked to leave "Jae, Daddy is going to work now." he called up to the little boy, who came running down the stairs to give his dad one last hug.

Jackson smiled at his son once Jaebum had left. "Let's get ready for school." He ushered the child upstairs, and helped the seven year old put on his school uniform, adjusting everything that needed adjusting. He felt bad that Jaebum never got to do this, this was one of Jackson's favourite timees with his son. Youngjae looked at himself in the mirror.

"Is daddy going to stop fires today?" Youngjae said, Jackson smiled hearing the pride in Youngjae's voice. Jackson nodded. "My daddy has the coolest job." Jackson ruffled the child's hair.

"Hey! What about your other daddy, I'm cool too!" Jackson said grabbing the seven year old and pulling him close for a hug. "My job is to give you cuddles." He was a stay at home dad, who trained for the Olympics when his son was at school, or an after school activity, it was quite hard to schedule training around his son but he didn't mind - even if it meant that he couldn't get enough practice to make the Olympic team. Youngjae giggled as Jackson tickled him. "I know Daddy Jae is cool, that's why we got married."

"Even though you're not cool, I love you Daddy." Youngjae said moving to hug Jackson. Jackson held him tightly. Youngjae cuddled into him and soon was bored hugging his dad and wanted to play again.

"5 minutes, Jae, then we're going to school." Jackson said with a smile.

It was always hard to get Youngjae to go to sleep when Jaebum was working nights. He wanted his other daddy to tuck him in. Youngjae kicked the blankets off every time Jackson tried to put him to bed, he was on the bring of a tantrum when Jackson sighed and called Jaebum. "Hi, I know baby - personal calls aren't really allowed, But it's Youngjae he just really needs to speak to you tonight." Jackson smiled when he heard Jaebum tell the others he'd be back in a second. Jackson put the phone on speaker.

"Youngjae!" Jaebum said, excitedly and the little boy responded. "How was your day?" Youngjae excitedly told Jaebum everything about his day. "Wow, you're such a good boy. Your daddy told me what your teacher said, I'm really proud of you." Youngjae smiled. "If you go to sleep now, tomorrow when we are out I'll let you eat McDonalds Ok? But only if you're really good for daddy. I love you Youngjae, sleep well."

"I love you daddy." Youngjae said back before getting under the blankets and Jackson gave him a kiss on the forehead, turning the light out and going downstairs, sitting on the couch.

"Thank you baby, have a good night, I love you." Jackson smiled as he hung up the phone. He sighed, turning on the TV, he should have been tidying the house, there were some toys in the living room that weren't in the toy box but he always took some time to relax when it came to his nights where he'd done all the care for his son.

"DADDY!" Jackson's head shot up when he heard his seven year old screaming, Jackson ran up the stairs and into the bedroom where the boy was crying. Jackson moved to wrap his arms around Youngjae as the little boy cried into his arms. Jackson rubbed Youngjae's back gently. Youngjae continued crying and Jackson moved to pull Youngjae onto his lap.

"Daddy is here Jae, I'm here." he said quietly. Youngjae hiccuped a little and continued clinging onto Jackson. "It was just a bad dream." Jackson said quietly.

"Daddy." Youngjae cried again, "It was Daddy Jae, he got hurt." Youngjae cried onto Jackson, "He went into a fire." the boy hiccuped. "And he didn't come back." he cried more, "He got trapped." Jackson held onto Youngjae. "Just like the movie."

"The movie?"

"The fire safety movie at school." Youngjae clung to Jackson.

"Oh, Baby." Jackson held Youngjae close to him, picking the boy up and carrying him downstairs, getting the boy a glass of milk and sitting on the sofa with the seven year old on his lap. "Daddy is fine, Daddy promised he was going to spend all of tomorrow with you and Daddy has never broken a promise to you has he?" Youngjae shook his head. "And your Daddy also promised me he was going to be Ok, and I've known him for more years than you've been alive and he's never broken a promise to me." Youngjae snuggled into Jackson, the boy still crying a little bit.

Jackson held onto Youngjae as he rested against Jackson. "Daddy is going to be ok. I've sent him a text and he'll call later, he's got some work to do before then. But he sent me a text reply, he told me to tell you he loves you and he promises he's going to be home tomorrow morning."

When Jaebum came home, he was tired, he smiled when he saw Jackson on the sofa, with Youngjae on his lap sleeping together. Jaebum knew that Jackson had spent all night holding their son and trying to calm him down, which was so hard for him to know it was about him. He hated that his job was causing his son pain but he loved it. He went over and pressed a kiss to his husband's lips, waking his husband up. Jaebum took Youngjae in his arms and carried the boy up the stairs, tucking Youngjae into bed before going into his own room and seeing Jackson already in the bed, he got into bed himself and smiled at him. "I'll talk to him tomorrow." Jaebum said quietly.

"He's a kid Jae." Jackson said quietly "He shouldn't be scared of his dad dying."

"I know, Jacks, but I'm a fire-fighter." Jaebum sighed, "But you did a good job of calming him down, you two are my boy and there is nothing that is going to stop me getting back home to you two."
