Nintendo has revealed the sales figures for Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen's Switch re-releases, and the two games did very well indeed within their first six weeks on the console.
In its latest financial summary, Nintendo puts the sales figures for FireRed and LeafGreen at over four million, a figure the games managed to achieve between their release on February 20th and the end of the fiscal year on March 31st.
If, like many, you were wondering why Nintendo opted to put both games up for sale as standalone titles rather than bundling them into Nintendo Switch Online, it seems you've got your answer; it's because there's an audience for them as download purchases. Presumably, that figure will only increase in the coming months, too.
Sales data for other Nintendo games is revealed within the new financial presentation as well, including for Pokemon Pokopia, which also managed to pick up four million sales for itself by the end of the fiscal year. FireRed and LeafGreen had an almost two-week headstart, too, so that's impressive.
Even more remarkable, however, are the sales figures for quirky life sim Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which has almost reached four million sales since being released midway through April. It looks like Tomodachi Life is a real dark horse of a franchise for Nintendo.
Other sales figures are sitting about where you'd expect; Mario Kart World has racked up almost 15 million units sold, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A has cumulatively collected almost 13 million across both Switch 2 and Switch.
Donkey Kong Bananza, meanwhile, hasn't broken the five million mark yet, which is a shame given the quality of the game; I put it in second place in my Games of the Year list for 2025 (yes, it's a shameless plug).
In terms of general financials, pretty much all of Nintendo's numbers are up for the 2025-26 fiscal year, which you'd expect given the launch of a major console during that period. You can check out Nintendo's full financial presentation for the latest fiscal year here.
