“Supporting and amplifying the material needs of trans folks in the Twin Cities, Minnesota”
Founded summer of 2023, Twin Cities Trans Mutual Aid is a grassroots and community-led queer organization quickly growing to be one of the largest in Minnesota. Our mission is to assist GNC (gender non-conforming) and intersex individuals within Minneapolis and St. Paul with meeting their needs. We accomplish this in several ways:
- We distribute funds to our community directly.
- We organize community socials, concerts, and events that foster community closeness.
- We create and signal-boost aid requests on our social media for individuals looking to our local community for support.
- We host community clinics focused on specific tasks- updating legal identification, learning self-defense techniques, or just fun skills like crocheting!
- We donate our labor to fellow organizations that also support individuals in our community.
- We run PLOT- Piper’s Library of Things- a collection of useful items, tools, and fun things that we lend out to our community upon request! You can read more about PLOT here.
Not only do we raise funds and assist with meeting material needs, we also work to strengthen the queer community within the Cities. Our aforementioned concerts are beloved by the subculture scenes in the Cities and create opportunities for queer thriving- not just surviving.
We are ever-growing and always expanding our involvement within our community. Some upcoming projects we have are:
- Formation of a TCTMA-branded Bandcamp page for local artists to both benefit from easy online revenue and receive exposure at no opportunity-cost.
- Community education sessions on topics such as transgender healthcare, safety, and legal rights.
- Expansion of PLOT to include more items and more storage.
We are a volunteer organization through-and-through, no payroll or sneaky bonuses. Every dollar that enters TCTMA, exits directly to members of our community. If that sounds like a project you’d see yourself as a part of, then learn how to get involved!
