Anja Womso is a USSR born DJ, promoter, music lover, record selector and collector raised in Bronx, NYC. "Womso" stands for "Wonders Of Minimal SOund". This name was born in 2007 as a result of residency at "Minibar" a minimal techno club in Moscow. Interest in DJ-ing came in the university years from hanging out with DJ friends and in 2002 the first pair of decks was bought and the journey started from selecting tracks for house parties. First club gig happened in the winter of 2005 at "Aloe" club in Moscow, at that time the sound was very minimal and cold, reflecting the Russian reality and weather, which changed to a warmer, more house orientated sound after moving to London in 2006 and working in places like Phonica Records and Resident Advisor. Since then Anja has toured across 3 continents from Miami’s Winter Music Conference to the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi and the World Cup in Rio bringing her signature sound to various events and radio shows in the US, UK, Brazil, France, Monaco, Italy, Georgia, Turkey and Russia. With over 17 years of experience as a DJ, and a finalist for the UK’s “Next Girl DJ” competition, Anja has played alongside Underworld, Maya Jane Coles, Rui Da Silva, Martinez, Reboot, Dani Casarano, Sasha Dive, Priku, Christian Burkhardt, Lee Van Dowski, Ambivalent, Ilario Alicante, Monika Kruse, Layo & Bushwacka, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts, Hot Since 82, Ray Okpara to name a few. Currently based in Moscow Anja is promoting her own nights, producing music for Moscow Fashion Week, ad campaigns, art shows, mapping projections and edits for her own record bag.
