Emotion was something that many different life forms were able to perceive, and there were indeed many positive emotions, such as happiness, pleasure and even empathy, which allowed one to sense another person's emotions.
Still, there were also very negative emotions as well, such as greed, sadness and anger, to name a few. Most forms of artificial intelligence, such as androids or sentient computers, were unable to experience emotion.
Although Brainiac had a level of Coluan emotion, it was nothing like that of what Humans and many other different species could feel. He had difficulty understanding the concept of Human emotion, which he found to be "illogical."[2]
