It seemed an endless night

Geez I'm tired today. Trying to get laundry done off peak because of the power problem out here in California makes the whole process go way too late. Of course, I had only planned to do one load but my hubby asked so sweetly if I'd include one of his shirts in my second load that I caved and did two. It got me to bed about an hour and a half later than I'd hoped on a pre-class night. Then our youngest cat Cactus decided to show me how much she loved me. She had been poking my elbows when I was at the computer loading her big sister's pictures for this journal. She hates any deviation from the usual routine. She knows I belong in bed after 10:30pm. So she hooks the loose skin on my elbows with the bare tips of her claws and pulls at my arm. It isn't enough to even raise a welt, but it definitely gets my attention. Beastlet. When I finally did climb in bed at 11:30, she was right there giving me kisses, demanding pets and wanting to play cave kitty under the covers. She'll sit on my chest and pluck at the edge of the blankets with her claws. I'm not sure if she intends to poke at me but she does. Once she's under she pulls at whatever I'm wearing. What she's hoping to accomplish I don't know, but she stopped that when I told her to stop. Then she tunneled back out and gave me bump-a-nose kisses with her wet cold little nose. I was starting to drift off, that woke me right up. She gave me such a look of adoration that I couldn't get mad at her. I started to complain but my hubby said "Awwww, she loves her momma." I told her to go love daddy. She didn't.

So last night was a night of waking up over and over. I'm not sure if Cactus was poking me because I woke up or I woke up because she was poking me, but I got way too much love from her last night. Watch out what you name cats. They tend to live up to the name. She's the pokiest cat I've ever had, and I've had a lot of cats.
