Lead Mentor Mixer - Event Format (June 4th)

• Mentors will be stationed in meeting rooms throughout the StartX office
• Founders must be ready outside of the mentor’s room at the time listed in the meeting schedule (far left column) - StartX staff will provide directions to mentors’ rooms
• Please arrive several minutes before your first meeting so staff can check you in and direct you to your first meeting location
• Each meeting will last for 10 minutes - if you hit it off with a mentor and want to continue talking, please set up a meeting for a later time and be courteous to the next founders waiting to take their meeting.
• To read the table:

• Mentors are listed in the first row and meet with the companies below them in the same column
• Companies in the same row meet at the same time (listed on the far left)
• Find your company name - the mentor you’ll meet is at the top of the column and the time you’ll meet is at the far left of the row

How do I prepare for the Lead Mentor Mixer?

• Learn about these mentors’ experience and background - find mentors on profiles.startx.com or the Distill list at startx.com/mentors 
• Important questions to ask/consider:

• Tell them about you. Have they mentored people like you? How did they help in those cases?
• How will they challenge you? The idea of a challenge is not to change your mind - it's to make you think. They should challenge you but let you make final decisions on everything.
• Get a sense for whether your lead mentor is passionate about your idea or plan - the more people that will push you to execute your idea and believe in you is key.

• Be sure to ask the mentors:

• What other companies have you mentored? What did that look like for them?
• What's your background?
• What do you do for fun?
• What is their bandwidth for meetings/support?

You should spend about 1/2 of your 10 minute meeting explaining what your company does/what you do and your long-term vision. You should make sure to ask the mentor if that's something that they would be passionate about. Spend the other half learning about the mentor
