Instead of doing division (with possible loss of precision), why not just multiply by -1 to go from maxima to minima?

I tried to change '1/data' to 'data*-1', but then it raise an error, could you share how to implement your method ?

Perhaps because we don't want to require that end users additionally install scipy.
