    Start the command with a space in the terminal and it should keep it out of your command history. Commented Feb 27, 2022 at 7:30
  • In bash, if HISTCONTROL is set to ignorespace or ignoreboth, then a command line starting with a space is not added to the history. Commented Jun 20, 2023 at 12:30
