Square Welcomes the Tola Team
Strengthening Financial Tools for Small Businesses
Today, Square welcomed the team behind Tola, a Y Combinator and Sequoia-backed startup focused on automating accounts payable and receivable for small businesses. Tola’s software simplifies core financial workflows, helping sellers better manage cash flow, reduce manual work, and gain greater visibility into their operations. We’re looking forward to providing this capability for sellers.
The addition of the Tola team reflects Square’s continued focus on building tools that support small businesses in running more efficiently and with greater confidence to drive profitability. With modern software and a seller-first approach, the team brings valuable experience addressing some of the most persistent challenges business owners face, especially around managing money in and out.
“In 2025, most SMBs are still managing finances with tools that haven’t evolved much in decades,” said Andy Schwartz, Head of Product, Financial Suite at Square. “The Tola team brings a fresh, seller-first perspective, with experience in using modern technology to tackle one of the hardest pain points: cash flow management.”
“Cash flow is the lifeblood of a business, yet too many owners are stuck with tools that make managing it harder, not easier,” said Alen Cvisic, co-founder and CEO of Tola. “Square has long championed small businesses - we’re excited to join forces to bring modern, intuitive financial operations to the entrepreneurs who need them most.”
Square remains committed to supporting the people who power the small business economy and to working with builders who share that vision.
