On this day in journal — August 24th

weekend

Me and Jasmine went the city yesterday to meet Joey. After that, we took a walk thru an antique mall and walked down 6th Ave to the Village. We hung out and looked in stores and went to Washington Square Park and chilled. Then we went home and watched a Marylyn Manson video I got from Joey. Really cool abstract shit - I didn't know Maryln Manson had so much art and thought in his videos and music. Really entertaining. We crashed and now we're awake and chillin'. I slept really late but I needed it. Tonight we're going to the knitting Factory to see God forbid and Atreyu. Should be fun. It's hot as hell right now.
Saturday I had a Chicken sandwich, yesterday a Tuna sandwich and last night I had a Turkey sandwich. I don't know what made me lose my willpower. I'm still gonna try not to eat meat, but I was so hot and tired and just wanted to eat anything. I just have so much going on right now, I guess I lost the reason in the shuffle.
Raeph called me and wants to make a Crust band with me and Paul. I'm gonna jam with him one day this week and talk about concepts and music. Paul is doing really good - still in Kill Your Idols and now he's doing great with None More Black - he's on the cover of MRR this month which is really cool. He's a fucking hard working musician and I really respect him for that. Hopefully we'll be able to pull together a fucking heavy band and play some shows.

SVD!!

Ok I was selling a lot of my Apple hardware and made a post to the Vintage Computer Marketplace a number of weeks ago.
I just got this reply.

Do you have the Apple GS still laying around?

I replied..
I just want it to go to someone who wont turn around
and ebay it or do something retarded with it.

and look at his response...

:-) Fair enuf!

Here's my scoop. I'm the creator of the "Semi-Virtual Diskette"
or SVD for short. This is a floppy emulator for the "old" machines
that gives you an easy way to boot/run them without having the
original diskettes. It's really just a hobbyist device that I
created for my own use. However, it has kinda' taken on a life
of its own and I've been building them for people all over the
world. It isn't a money-making proposition, that's for sure!
In fact, I donate all of the profits to computer sites and
organizations who are preserving the old machines or software.
But it's fun. Check out www.theSVD.com for more info.

So, on to the punch line, it's time I supported the GS. I've
built an SVD for a guy who is using it on an Apple IIc,
but wants to use it on the GS. I've never tried it, and
apparently it doesn't work...so I need to get ahold of a GS.

Personally, I'm a collector myself with TRS-80's, Apples, Heathkit,
IMSAI, Altair, Commodore, and the occasional off-center like my Data
General Nova 3 or Heathkit analog computer...among others.

What I'm looking for is a GS w/keyboard and mouse, and whatever cards,
software, and manuals I can lay my hands on. No monitor needed,
really, although if you have an original that will otherwise hit the
dumpster, I'll gladly pay shipping to get the thing to a new home: my
storage unit. Operational would be best in this instance. Normally,
I like machines which aren't working...they go for far less on ePay
and I enjoy getting them up and running. My Pet2000 is such a
beastie. It's like with the old cars, you can lift the hood, read the
schematic and fix the things.

So, what would $20 + shipping to Austin, TX get me??? :-)

Best,
Eric

Ummm whatever you want bro!! LOL wowowowowo
Take a look at this people! I want one. Time to get some vintage tech fired up.

R.I.P. Sadie 2/92 - 8/06

I rushed my dog Sadie to the vet tonight with after she started breathing heavy and became unable to walk but she passed away in front of me on the examination table in the emergency room while we were discussing what to do for her.. She was about 15 years old. She had a good life. I will always remember her.
Thanks to Rebecca for helping us get to the Vet by car and thanks to Stephanie for moral support and being there for me and Sadie.

Think of her and keep her in your thoughts.
Hopefully she's in a better place and body now.

Proposal

Last night we were sitting around watching TV and we started talking about shopping for a ring and tradition and what should and shouldn't be etc and I just got the notion it was the right time to propose for some reason, even without a ring so after Pam went in the bedroom to get ready to sleep I went down to the basement where i've been hiding my secret proposal artwork (which I created a few weeks ago in anticipation of the right moment) and brought it upstairs. I asked her to sit up and gave it to her. She unwrapped it and stared at it, and as she read it I looked at her and got on my knee and asked her to marry me. She said yes. We hugged, she teared up and smiled. She was really, really happy (Pam suggested the 2nd really lol) and so was I. It was good timing. Pamela rules, I love her so much and we're gonna have a great future as Husband and Wife. Hopefully we're gonna have a January wedding. And we're still gonna get a ring, and i'll probably propose again, but it was more important to me to give her my handmade vow and ask her first rather giving her a simple piece of jewelry.
