Art: Lily (G)
In view of the developments we got in DH, I had to do something about the fact that I'd never really drawn a proper portrait of Lily Evans. She did appear on page 3 of Vengeance is Bitter, and I drew her as a little girl in Notions, but something more was needed :-). I really don't like her, but a character dear to me does, so...
This was done with graphite and Caran d'Ache watercolour pencils, but I didn't use any water. I was curious to see what would happen if I tried colour rather than the black, white and grey of Mourning on this pastel paper. I guess I might just as well have used 'ordinary' colour pencils - silly me :-).
The real drawing looks prettier, I think, because the white I used in Lily's face doesn't stand out quite as much as it does in this photo. For some reason my pictures on pastel paper are quite impossible to scan properly, but even if I take photos, the contrasts don't turn out quite right :/. In reality the colours in the face are subtler. I tried to correct the photo in Photoshop, but I had to give up because nothing yielded any useful results.
