MAJOR CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY AND TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES
The main bridge demolition activities over Kearny Street and at the Hilton Hotel will begin on Friday, July 31.
This work is expected to last one week through Monday, August 10, 5:00 a.m.
For the duration of this work, expect work vehicles in the roadway, lane closures, slow traffic, and temporary “No Parking | Tow Away” restrictions near the work area. Expect pedestrian detours around this section of Kearny Street. Please follow directions from flaggers and all posted signage. For any concerns related to parking tickets or towed vehicles, please call 311.
Kearny Street between Clay and Washington will be closed:
- Saturday, August 1, 1:00am through Monday, August 3, 5:00 a.m.
- Saturday, August 8, 1:00am through Monday, August 10, 5:00 a.m.
No pedestrians or vehicles will be allowed within the construction area during these full closures. Local access will be maintained for businesses on the east side of Kearny between Clay and Merchant streets.
During the week between the full closures, August 3-8, please be advised there may be temporary closures, detours, and other traffic and parking impacts along this section of Kearny Street.
To accommodate this work, Portsmouth Square Garage will be closed August 1-2 and August 8-9. Aside from temporary closures, in general, the garage will remain open as normal for the duration of the project.
