Minnie & Lovie Ward Athletic Fields Renovation

Construction June – October 2026

Minnie and Lovie Ward Athletic Fields will be under construction from early June 2026 through late October 2026. Construction and related field closures will be performed in two phases to allow play to continue on one half of the field space throughout construction.

The synthetic field turf on these fields is over 12 years old and due for routine replacement. This project will remove and replace the existing synthetic field turf on the play fields.

As part of this project, the old synthetic turf will be removed and recycled/downcycled. New turf will be installed with new infill material consisting of cork and sand, rather than the crumb rubber material used formerly.

Additional improvements will include the replacement of damaged fencing; installation of new fence fabric; minor ADA improvements; and installation of new site features, including drinking fountains, players benches, signage, and trash receptacles.
