Arrowverse star Grant Gustin has revealed he was to his knowledge never contacted about having a DCEU cameo in The Flash movie. 2023 was a big year for Barry Allen, as the Arrowverse TV show finished its run after 184 episodes, and Ezra Miller's The Flash movie finally arrived in theaters. While the DCEU movie dealt with some of DC's past live-action properties across the multiverse, the Arrowverse was not one of them, as The Flash's cast instead included two versions of Miller's hero and a previously unseen Golden age Flash iteration.

It has been nearly half a year since The Flash movie released in theaters, and the lack of Gustin's Scarlet Speedster within the film is still highly discussed. Gustin himself recently talked about the topic at GalaxyCon (via Comic Book Movie), wherein he revealed that he was never officially approached to have any involvement with the film, sharing the following:

Never, any at least, no one officially ever called me in as far as I know. My reps never told me if they did. So yeah, no one ever reached out to me about the movie.

Grant Gustin Vs. Ezra Miller: Which Version Of The Flash Is More Powerful

Grant Gustin and Ezra Miller have long-running performances as The Flash, but one beats out the other as the most powerful live-action Flash.

Why Grant Gustin Was The Perfect Cameo For The Flash

While The Flash movie has had to deal with many controversies, not having Gustin's version of The Flash in the film is one of its most contentious. Despite The Flash getting to focus on the multiverse, the movie wasted the opportunity for Miller's Flash to cross paths with an alternative version of himself from another world. Instead, Miller played two Barrys, with one of them being the result of Flash's time-travel actions - which itself could have been a prime opportunity to use Gustin's version of the Flash, though the huge number of cameos towards the end of the movie would have been a perhaps more likely place for the character to appear.

It's also key to remember that it was the Arrowverse's Flash that got to connect with the DCEU when Miller's Barry had a cameo in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. The Arrowverse crossover became historical for having a major movie character cross paths with their TV counterpart, which is why many believed that The Flash movie would somehow factor Gustin in some capacity. Instead, the only Flash-related cameo was a brief appearance by a Jay Garrick doppelganger, who was played by one of the VFX editors and had little to no importance to the overall story.

After The Flash season 9, Gustin's show became the longest-running Arrowverse series of all time.

If anything, it would be great if Gustin's Flash got a chance to show up in a future multiverse story as part of James Gunn's DC Universe down the line. Gustin's incarnation of the fastest man alive has become one of the most beloved versions of a DC hero in live-action, meaning audiences would be excited if he were to come back. For now, the world can relive every season of The Flash TV show as well as The Flash movie on streaming or on Blu-Ray/DVD.
