Futurama has had some strange celebrity cameos, but the series may have just introduced its strangest celebrity cameo yet. Much like its sister show The Simpsons, Futurama has always been full of celebrity cameos, with many episodes featuring stars of all different types. Hulu's Futurama revival has continued this celebrity cameo trend, and while many of these have continued to be strange, season 12, episode 6 may be considered the strangest.
Futruama's celebrity cameos have always been uniquely fun, as the show's worldbuilding allows them to be pulled off in a unique way. In Futurama's 31st Century timeline, most celebrities have had their heads preserved in jars, meaning that many Futurama celebrity cameos actually play themselves. While this isn't always the case, with stars like Coolio voicing original characters like Kwanzaa-Bot, the disembodied heads have allowed for some pretty unique celebrity storylines.
Cara Delevingne Plays A Fashion-Themed Frankenstein's Monster In Futurama Season 12
& She May Stay That Way In Futurama's Future
Futurama season 12, episode 6, "Attack of the Clothes" features one of the show's strangest celebrity cameos yet, and actress and model Cara Delevingne is at the center of it. The episode sees Professor Farnsworth make his own Frankenstein's monster, with this being another one of his everyday wacky experiments. When making the creature clothes, however, he quickly realizes that he could become a fashion icon, with his line of clothes becoming incredibly popular.
New episodes of Futurama release Mondays on Hulu.
The Frankenstein's monster becomes Farnsworth's top model, but there is a problem: it has no head. Thus, the Planet Express crew goes to the Head Museum and tries to find a suitable model to be the head of the monster. They eventually settle on Cara Delevingne, with her playing the head of the fashion-themed Frankenstein's monster for the rest of the episode.
Futurama Finally Reveals Why The Planet Express Building Looks Like That After 25 Years
Futurama season 12 just made a massive retcon to the world of Futurama, finally revealing a huge fact about the Planet Express building.
Cara Isn't Season 12, Episode 6's Only Celebrity Guest Star
Bill Nye & Tim Gunn Also Appear
Although Cara Delevingne is the most notable guest star in Futurama season 12, episode 6, she isn't the only one. Scientist Bill Nye also appears in the episode, with him being the host of a science convention that Farnsworth goes to. This isn't the first time that Bill Nye has appeared in the series, with him being one of several real-life scientists who have cameoed in Futurama.
Since "Attack of the Clothes" is all about fashion, it makes sense for the show to also have a fashion icon in the episode. Tim Gunn plays himself in the episode, with the Project Runway, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, and Under the Gunn star speaking at a red carpet fashion event. Having this trio of celebrity cameos in Futurama is absolutely hilarious, with the latter two balancing out the strangeness of Cara Delevingne's role.
