About Alex Leadbeater
Alex Leadbeater is Screen Rant’s Content Director & Operations Manager, based out of Valnet’s New York City office. He oversees the site’s full content operation, sets growth strategy and manages a global editorial team spanning the US, Canada, and beyond. With over a decade in entertainment publishing, Alex has been a permanent fixture at Screen Rant since 2016, rising through the ranks as writer, editor, social media coordinator, section lead, and Managing Editor before stepping into his current leadership role.
Before joining Screen Rant, Alex served as Film Editor at WhatCulture. His industry expertise has also led to appearances on podcasts such as Total Geekall, YouTube panels, BBC Radio, and CBC News, where he’s brought his insight on movies, TV, and pop culture to wide audiences.
Author Details
Over his 15 years in entertainment journalism, Alex has explored nearly every corner of film and television. From unearthing obscure MCU Easter eggs to unpacking the layered themes of Jordan Peele’s films, his coverage balances pop-culture passion with critical depth.
He has reported from the Cannes Film Festival, visited the sets of major Hollywood blockbusters and interviewed a red-carpet’s worth of talent - from Quentin Tarantino to Ryan Reynolds. He even managed to get Tom Cruise to weigh in on the long-running rumor about his “fake butt” in Valkyrie (for the record, Cruise insists it’s all real).
Favorite Media
- A New Hope remains the best Star Wars movie.
- Friday the 13th is the best horror franchise and it's confounding they're still struggling to reboot.
- James Bond at its best is hard to beat.
- It's A Wonderful Life is the undisputed Christmas classic. Die Hard doesn't count.
- The Simpsons is the best TV show ever made and the golden age is still painfully on-point.
- Titanic is eternally fascinating, as is all the media made around it (Cameron's movie is an all-timer).
- Nothing tops playing Half-Life 2 for the first time.
- Alan Moore's From Hell is the best graphic novel (even if he gets Jack the Ripper's identity wrong).
