Joy in Window-Painting
Hey guys, guess what I got to do today?
The cafeteria staff held a window decorating contest. They brought out these window-markers and asked people to draw winter / Christmas scenes on the windows. The best one would get a prize.
Prize or not, I just wanted to have my art displayed for all to see. So I went up and got some markers, and as soon as my idea came to fruition I started drawing like crazy. Of course, I had to - we only had half an hour to do it.
I chose to do a simple winter landscape - snow-covered hills, a few clusters of evergreen trees, some deer wandering through the snow, a small lake, and a beautiful brilliant star in the sky. "Woodland Christmas," I called it.
As I was drawing, I got more than a few curious on-lookers and people complimenting my work. Which, considering my last few attempts in the artistic field, were absolutely wonderful to hear.
The judges based each entry on how much applause they recieved. I was one of the top contenders, and while I had my doubts... I WON! =D
I cannot tell you how happy I was to hear that! My word, winning is something I'm not used to, even in areas where I know I'm talented. So having my work praised in such a way... honestly, you cannot imagine how frickin' happy I was!
So yeah, I got a few prizes, among them a gift certificate to the bookstore (SWEET!).
Next chance I get, probably tomorrow, I'm going back with my camera. I have to have a photo of that beautiful piece. =)
Thank you, God. Today was a very special day, and in the midst of my struggles you found a moment to make me shine and feel good about myself and who you made me to be. We all need moments like that, and I thank you for granting me that wonderful opportunity...
