26 Seasons signs Agreement for Saudi Arabia expansion Having had the privilege of being part of Trade & Investment Delegation to Saudi Arabia, led by the RH Minister Todd McClay, I am proud to announce that this week, 26 Seasons signed an Agreement with Fruit Cooperative Society. Overview of Agriculture in KSA 1-In 2024, the agriculture sector achieved a historic milestone, contributing approximately SAR 114 billion to the nation’s GDP—reflecting robust growth and alignment with Vision 2030 goals. 2. Boosting Food Self-Sufficiency Dairy production now exceeds 109% of domestic demand, and egg production stands at 116% — with surplus dairy and eggs now available for export. Poultry self-sufficiency has risen to 60% (up from 40% in 2016), and seafood production covers about 55% of local demand. 3. Scaling Agribusiness and Investment The Jeddah Food Cluster, launched in 2024, is expected to attract SAR 20 billion in private investment and boost food exports by around SAR 8 billion annually over the coming decade. 4. Modernizing Through Technology Precision agriculture: The market reached USD 83.9 million in 2024 and is projected to grow to USD 200.4 million by 2033, at a 9.1% CAGR. Smart agriculture: Valued at USD 168.3 million in 2024, forecasted to reach USD 304.3 million by 2033 (6.1% CAGR), driven by AI, IoT, and water-saving innovations. Sustainable agriculture: Currently at USD 0.13 billion in 2024 and expected to grow to USD 0.30 billion by 2033 (9.7% CAGR), supported by greenhouse expansion and funding for R&D. 5. Environmental & Water Initiatives The Kingdom is set to build 1,000 rainwater harvesting dams with a combined annual capacity of 4 million m³, reinforcing environmental sustainability and water security. As of 2024, over 115 million trees have been planted, and 118,000 hectares of degraded land rehabilitated under the Saudi Green Initiative. The broader Saudi Green Initiative includes plans to rehabilitate 74 million hectares, plant 10 billion trees, and expand mangrove planting—all to enhance ecosystem resilience. 6. Livestock & Specialized Projects A new “Livestock City” investment of SAR 9 billion is underway, expected to meet 30% of red meat demand, generate 13,000+ jobs, and produce 140,000 liters of milk per day using renewable energy. Red meat self-sufficiency stands at 61%, with production exceeding 270,000 tonnes in 2023. 7. Aquaculture, Poultry & Organic Farming Aquaculture production surged from 100,000 tonnes (2019) to 214,000 tonnes (2023) — a 114% increase. Greenhouse output grew by about 57%, reaching 721,000 tonnes in 2023. Organic agriculture expanded to 23,310 hectares, increasing by 25% year-on-year. The poultry sector leads regional production with over 1.1 million tons produced annually. 8. Notable Crop Self-Sufficiency & Local Production 2023 data shows self-sufficiency: Dates (119%), figs & eggplants (107%), cucumbers (102%), zucchini (100%), potatoes (87%), tomatoes (76%), onions (51%). A'Saffa Foods, SAOG, Muscat, Oman is set to raise its annual broiler chicken production capacity from 48 million birds to 60 million, with the expansion expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. The increase, roughly 25%, follows board approval in December 2024 and is underway at the fully integrated Thamrait facility in Dhofar Governorate. Company officials said the project combines additional production capacity with upgrades to existing facilities to improve efficiency and meet anticipated demand from Oman and neighbouring markets. A’Saffa Foods operated at full capacity in 2025, recording parent company revenues of RO 58.23 million (US$151.4 million), down 8.52% from RO 63.66 million (US$165.5 million) in 2024. At the group level, revenues fell 8.93% to RO 57.05 million (US$148.3 million) from RO 62.64 million (US$162.9 million) a year earlier, reflecting market pressures and production constraints. Despite lower revenue, profitability improved, with parent company gross profit rising 8.78% to RO 16.77 million (US$43.6 million) from RO 15.42 million (US$40.1 million) in 2024. First commercial sesame cultivation project launched in Dhofar Muscat: Oman has unveiled its first commercial sesame cultivation initiative in Al-Najd, Dhofar, covering 600 acres across around 35 farms. The venture, led by Sifco in collaboration with the Salalah Free Zone and Omani Agricultural Association (Dhofar Association), aims to produce 300 tonnes of sesame seeds in its initial phase. Designed to enhance food security and foster forward integration, the project empowers local farmers under a contract-farming model, guarantees off-take by Sifco, and lays the groundwork for value-added outputs such as tahini and edible oils. This initiative epitomises public–private collaboration grounded in Vision 2040—transforming agriculture into a driver of industrial growth and rural prosperity in Dhofar. As a dedicated exporter in the food and agricultural sector, I recently had the privilege of attending the AgroFood Oman 2025 exhibition at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) from December 1-3. Despite its compact size, the event radiated an incredibly warm, collaborative, and inspiring vibe—far more engaging than many larger trade shows I've experienced. During my visit, I had the opportunity to share my insights in an interview with the OCEC team, highlighting Oman's immense potential to emerge as a strategic trade hub in the region. With its prime geographic location bridging Asia, Africa, and Europe, the Sultanate—supported by proactive policies from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion—is creating an investor-friendly ecosystem. They're streamlining regulations, minimizing bureaucracy, and offering attractive incentives that cut through red tape, making it easier for entrepreneurs and investors worldwide to set up shop and thrive. This forward-thinking approach not only fosters innovation but also positions Oman as a gateway for international collaborations, boosting regional trade and cross-border partnerships.
