The Machine Part is a key item introduced in Generation II.
Effect
The Machine Part needs to be given to a worker at the Power Plant to reactivate the machinery there and therefore restore power to the Magnet Train and the Kanto Radio Station.

In Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version, Pokémon Crystal Version, the Machine Part was stolen by a member of the Team Rocket Grunt, who then hid it in the Cerulean City Gym. The player can only obtain the Machine Part from there once they have visited the Power Plant at least once. After returning the Machine Part, the player is rewarded TM007 (Zap Cannon).
In Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version, the Machine Part cannot be detected by the Dowsing Machine. It appears in the Cerulean City Gym only after defeating the Team Rocket Grunt on Route 24. The reward for returning the Machine Part is TM057 (Charge Beam).
