Five studies examined the extent to which autobiographical memory retrieval is hierarchical, whether a hierarchical search depends on central executive resources, and whether retrieving memories that are “higher” in the hierarchy impairs problem‐solving ability. The first study found that random generation (assessed using a button‐pressing task) was sensitive to changes in memory load (digit span). The second study showed that when participants fail to retrieve a target event, they respond with a memory that is higher up the hierarchy. The third (...) study showed that memory is more generic only when participants use low imageable cues under cognitive load. The final two experiments showed that experimental manipulation of memory specificity affects problem solving (MEPS performance). The data are consistent with Conway and Pleydell‐Pearce's hierarchical retrieval model of autobiographical memory, and suggest that overgeneral memory in nonclinical participants is associated with reduced executive capacity only when retrieval is “top‐down” (generative). In pediatric emergency rooms (ERs), social workers must navigate diverse responsibilities including acting as advocates and liaisons between families and multidisciplinary treatment teams, providing compassionate support to families in crisis, and assessing for and reporting any suspicions of child abuse or neglect. These potentially contrasting roles can place social workers at the center of dealing with ethical dilemmas and advocating against ethical violations, such as bias and discrimination toward families. This qualitative study seeks to gain insight into ethical issues commonly (...) encountered in pediatric ERs by exploring the perspectives of 23 social workers at Level 1 trauma centers in the United States. Thematic analysis was used to develop major themes and subthemes related to ethical violations, dilemmas, and best practices in pediatric ERs. Major themes emerged related to unfair treatment of families (with subthemes of bias, discrimination, and compassion fatigue), ethical dilemmas (with subthemes of cultural issues, safety and system issues), and promoting ethical practices (with subthemes of self-awareness, advocacy, and efforts to change the system). This study provides important insights into ethical issues in pediatric ERs as experienced by social workers and can inform efforts to improve the quality and equity of care for all families in pediatric ERs. O artigo aborda a expansão da Educação a Distância (EAD) no Brasil, impulsionada por políticas públicas e pela plataformização do ensino. O objeto de estudo são as implicações tecnopolíticas, jurídicas e psicossociais desse fenômeno, analisando como a EAD reconfigura as práticas educativas sob uma lógica neoliberal de vigilância, performatividade e mercantilização. O objetivo geral é compreender como as plataformas digitais, com seus sistemas algorítmicos, reestruturam a experiência pedagógica e a subjetividade de alunos e professores. A metodologia utilizada é qualitativa, com (...) abordagem exploratória e crítica, baseada em revisão bibliográfica e análise documental de leis, dados oficiais e produção acadêmica.Os resultados indicam que a plataformização, sob o discurso da democratização, intensifica a precarização do trabalho docente, promove o controle por meio da vigilância algorítmica e gera impactos negativos na saúde mental dos estudantes, como ansiedade e burnout, ao impor uma lógica de autogestão e desempenho contínuo. No entanto, observa-se a resistência de cursos como Direito e Psicologia, que defendem a presencialidade como essencial para a formação ética e crítica. Conclui-se que a EAD, nos moldes atuais, atua como um dispositivo de controle que fragiliza a dimensão humana e crítica da educação. A superação desse modelo exige uma reorientação para um paradigma democrático e dialógico, que utilize a tecnologia para promover o cuidado, a autonomia e a formação de sujeitos críticos, em vez de apenas reproduzir a lógica de mercado. Esse artigo trata de uma revisão de literatura sobre uma temática muito discutida atualmente no meio educacional: o ensino à distância durante a pandemia do Novo Coronavírus. O objetivo é trazer para o debate os resultados das pesquisas de autores recentes sobre a temática. Para isso, usou-se a metodologia de busca por repositórios e plataformas como Google Schollar, Mendeley, Scielo, entre outras a fim de filtrar autores mais recentes que publicaram sobre esse tipo de tema e tentar entender os desafios (...) dos docentes diante dessa nova perspectiva causada pela pandemia do COVID 19, entre elas a implantação do ensino híbrido nas salas de aula virtuais. Assim, a partir de buscas e pesquisas com docentes e discentes, conseguimos entender a nova dinâmica de trabalho que surge como alternativa viável para a continuidade de semestres letivos, afim de não afetar a progressão acadêmica. A partir do Decreto n.º 5.622, publicado no D.O.U. de 20/12/2005, inicia-se o processo histórico de consolidação da Educação a Distância no Brasil a nível superior, ocorrendo mudanças Legislação educacional e novas diretrizes para a avaliação da qualidade da educação, sendo o item material didático um indicador de extrema importância a ser avaliado. Diante deste contexto abordamos os elementos que fundamentam o conceito de material didático como aula na Educação a Distância - EAD a partir dos processos educativos, organização curricular (...) e cumprimento da carga horária definida pelas diretrizes curriculares de curso. Pela pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, exploratória e descritiva, a partir da experiência de ensino em quatro Instituições de Ensino Superior - IES presentes no cenário nacional, foi possível descrever os procedimentos que envolvem o desenvolvimento do material didático, a organização de conteúdo e a rotina de estudos de acordo com a carga horária necessária à integralização de cursos, estruturando-se assim, o conceito de material didático como aula na EAD. O presente artigo contempla a contextualização da educação superior na contemporaneidade, seus desafios e exigências demandados pelos novos tempos e espaços de formação em relação aos estudos da Educação a Distância (EaD) e aos avanços frente aos processos de ensino e aprendizagem em EaD. Este estudo é parte da investigação qualitativa realizada junto aos cursos de Pedagogia EaD da Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS) e da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). O lastro teórico que embasou esta (...) investigação foram os estudos apresentados por Belloni (2003), Litwin (2001), Leite (2002), Sancho (2006) e outros. Os resultados da pesquisa apontam que a EaD, mediada pelas tecnologias, apresenta características que propõem avanços aos processos de ensino e aprendizagem dessa modalidade, produzindo mudanças na cultura dos sujeitos, tornando os autônomos, participativos e integrantes da cultura digital. O presente trabalho objetiva demonstrar uma experiência em contexto de educação online em um curso superior de tecnologia no qual um modelo de avaliação formativa, com foco em competências, foi efetivamente modelado e utilizado. Para o seu desenvolvimento, foram consideradas as proposições de Pereira et al. (2009), sobre as metacompetências essenciais a serem desenvolvidas em estudantes na contemporaneidade, e Pereira et al. (2015) sobre uma cultura de avaliação baseada em competências.

O isolamento social para a contenção da contaminação pela COVID-19 impactou o processo educacional, resultando em efeitos severos na precarização da aprendizagem escolar, principalmente em estudantes de famílias de baixa renda. E como alternativas para que a educação escolar não estagnasse, foi proposta a realização de aulas síncronas através da internet. Entretanto, essa modalidade de ensino não proporciona a universalização do ensino e muito menos o acesso por todos, uma vez que muitos estudantes não possuem acesso à internet. Nas aulas (...) síncronas, o ensino híbrido possibilita que o processo de ensino tenha continuidade no período pandêmico, por utilizar diversas estratégias pedagógicas e também mitigar a aglomeração dos estudantes nas escolas. O professor e os alunos são inseridos em um processo educacional diferente em relação ao ensino tradicional, favorecendo o protagonismo dos alunos, para que possam trabalhar em grupos e compartilhar conhecimentos, e utilizando tecnologias digitais como aliadas nesse processo. But Beauty’s evidence is incomplete so that it doesn’t warrant a precise credence, I claim. Instead, Beauty ought to have a properly imprecise credence when she wakes. In particular, her representor ought to assign \(R(H\!eads)=[0,1/2]\) . I show, perhaps surprisingly, that this solution can account for the many of the intuitions (...) that motivate the traditional solutions. Este ensaio tem como objetivo analisar a desconstrução do espaço clássico da sala de aula em decorrência do uso inadequado das tecnologias de ensino em rede que ocorrem na utilização alienante das plataformas digitais. Partimos da hipótese que as relações educativas a distância (EAD) definem uma nova função dos sujeitos (professor e aluno) em sala de aula nos processos de ensino e aprendizagem. Na EAD a incorporação das atividades educativas realizada em conectividade em rede pode estabelecer outras formas de comunicar-se (...) entre os sujeitos promovida pela internet que se contrapõem o estar junto com o outro. Isso é algo que se apresenta em termos de distopia, pois ocorre uma perda do sentido educativo na ausência de conexão com os outros próximos em sala de aula e uma intensa busca para se conectar os outros distantes. No contexto atual a sala de aula se encontra tensionados pelos ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem (AVA) que apresentam outros contornos nas relações entre os sujeitos no âmbito do processo educativo escolar. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada encontra-se no campo da Filosofia da Educação no sentido de conceituar a atividade educativa como encontro dos sujeitos com a cultura escolar. Concluímos que as atividades educativas que ocorrem em rede no AVA deveriam ser utilizadas criticamente como forma de complementação no apoio ao trabalho realizado em sala de aula. A dualidade da atividade educativa entre real e o virtual podem apresentar diversos elementos contraditórios que destituem a função do sujeito como intelectual em sala de aula, pois o que prevalece seria a informação destituída da análise crítica. Essa dualidade que se estabelece entre o real e virtual em sala de aula na realização da atividade educativa se constitui como o ponto central de discussão para se compreender as diversas nuances no processo de formação do sujeito e a questão da qualidade na educação. A qualidade na educação no âmbito dos processos de ensino e aprendizagem deveria ocorrer numa relação direta de encontro entre os sujeitos na promoção de trocas de experiências para se elaborar o conceito no campo da cultura escolar. This chapter discusses the health care issues raised by the documentary _Southern Comfort_ (2001). The film focuses on Robert Eads, a female-to-male (FtM) transsexual man living his last days with friends and family as terminal cancer of the cervix, ovaries, and uterus—the last remaining parts of his female body—claims his life. The chapter focuses on a scene where Robert tells the audience that it took three weeks for him to find a doctor who would treat him. The film can be (...) used to educate students about the humanity of transgender and transsexual people and to prompt discussions about the challenges transgender and transsexual people encounter when trying to access healthcare. Like many marginalized groups, trans people are often underinsured; yet, Robert's story primarily enables discussions of the bias and fear that sometimes prohibit trans-identified patients from accessing even urgently needed care. His story offers powerful lessons about the need for sensitivity to and consideration of birth sex in providing trans-identified patients with appropriate care, the importance of patient autonomy where gender identity is concerned, and the beneficence required to act in an ethically responsible manner. This research is grounded in the philosophical concepts of Michel Foucault (1926-1984) for its source analysis, thus forming a "discursive formation" from a heterogeneous documentary corpus. This corpus includes quantitative data from INEP (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira), journalistic discourses, and legal sources such as laws, regulations, and ordinances. The study's timeframe spans from 2007 to 2020. The year 2007 was chosen as the starting point because it marks the date of the first educational institution's initial (...) public offering (IPO) on the Stock Exchange. In turn, 2020 signals the end of the period, as it was the year when INEP (2022) registered, for the first time, a prevalence of Distance Learning (EAD) enrollments over the in-person format in Brazil, characterizing the phenomenon of the “platformization of education”. The central objective of this study is to discuss the financialization of Higher Education within the context of neoliberal governmentality, analyzing how public policies have contributed to the intensification of the entrepreneurialization of education. This phenomenon, in turn, has led to the precarization of teaching labor and student debt. (shrink)

This article is the result of preliminary works to study the function of spaces and to contextualize the artifacts of the Insula of the comedians and its northern surroundings. For two of the rooms in the Insula, which have been interpreted as areas used for culinary preparations, the analysis of the archaeological data from the archives of the excavations led by Ph. Bruneau’s team between 1961 and 1965 —along with their outstanding published monograph (EAD 17)—, has enabled us to assess (...) the stratigraphic remains recorded during the excavations and to link assemblages of artifacts, particularly ceramics, to stratigraphic sequences. We present both the built structures and all types of ceramic assemblages (fine, coarse, amphorae, braziers) that remained in situ at the time of the abandonment of the settlement, with the aim of providing a special distribution of those objects and proposing a dating for this final occupation. O ensaio analisa o papel da filosofia na formação do docente do Ensino Médio; parte de Adorno que, enquanto avaliador da prova geral de filosofia nos exames de habilitação para o magistério em ciências nas IES alemãs, destacava o papel formativo da filosofia e como a ênfase no ensino profissional ofuscava a formação intelectual. Após resgatar o potencial histórico da Bildung, o ensaio se volta para os dias de hoje e tenta iluminar a atuação da filosofia na formação docente do (...) ensino médio. Dois grupos de problemas são levantados: o domínio de organizações privadas, cursos noturnos e EaD na formação; a submissão dessas organizações ao mercado. Consequência: o privilégio das competências e o desprestígio da formação. Ao final, o ensaio tenta resgatar o potencial da filosofia na formação desse profissional. (shrink)

Este artigo tem como problema de pesquisa os desafios de comunicação entre discentes e docentes vivenciados por uma professora auto intitulada em crise, durante o isolamento social em Santa Catarina, a partir de 16 de março de 2020. O objetivo deste artigo é explorar este contexto de mudanças nas práticas de ensino e comunicação, que ocorreu em turmas de ensino presencial dos cursos superiores de Design de Moda e técnicos em Modelagem do Vestuário de uma instituição de ensino federal de (...) Santa Catarina. A partir do relato da professora, que efetuou um diário de bordo, foram encontrados dados, os quais aplicou-se método de análise cartográfica. Buscou-se conceituar a crise como um processo de mudança, e utilizou-se o conceito de _phármakon _em analogia as escolhas feitas durante o período. No relato foram abordadas as estratégias de comunicação vivenciadas para superação de desafios comunicacionais e os novos formatos de aula criados pela docente, utilizando as plataformas institucionais e mídias sociais já conhecidas, tais quais _WhatsApp_. O modelo de ensino que surgiu durante a pandemia foi nomeado pela equipe docente como ensino em formato remoto, um formato que não é EAD nem presencial. Foi possível concluir a existência de angústia do docente em relação ao tempo vivido, pelo excesso de informação e ao mesmo tempo dificuldades de comunicação entre docente e discentes. (shrink)

What the present work aimed to achieve is an assessment of the origin an d unity of Husserl s Logical Investigations. My approach was to take the history of its development as fundamental for the determination of its basic structure. Therefore, I proceeded to analyse Husserl s development between the Philosophy of Arithmetic and Logical Investigations with re spect to the fundamental issues in the justification of knowledge in mathematics and logic. In Husserl s own words, one of the concerns (...) that set him on the road to phenomenology was the clarification and analysis of the relation b etween the subjectivity of knowing and the objectivity of knowledge. Fro m my investigations it has, I hope, become apparent how this problem ori ginated in his earliest works and, through various influences and exchanges, led to his theory of intentionality in the first editio n of the Logical Investigations. The Logical Investigations is located between his Brentanist phase and t he ultimate development of transcendental phenomenology. It is the sedim ent of Husserl s logical investigations during the 1890s, which is the m ain period I analysed in the present work. Husserl himself often remarke s on the early origin of some of the issues he tried to deal with in the Logical Investigations. Still in his sketches for a new preface to the second edition of 1913, he took pains to point out the developmental his tory of the work from the Philosophy of Arithmetic onward. Regarding the Philosophy of Arithmetic, more often than not, Husserl remarks that it was just and elaboration of his Habilitationsschrift. Hence, following h is lead, we tried to embrace the whole period of his psychological and l ogical analyses from 1886/7 to 1900/01. Of course, I was certainly not the first, nor will I be the last, to be intrigued by Husserl s development in these years. Numerous books and articles have been written long before mine on precisely these issue s, often dealing with specific topics, such as the uneasy relation of psychology and psychologism in Husserl s work or fundamental inʂ 58;uences such as Bolzano s, which I therefore chose to leave aside. Not simply to duplicate or summarise such pre-existing scholarship, I tried to concentrate on the issues to which I felt I could contribute an orig inal insight, advancing the field. I would like to indicate ᤙ 7;ve points here, where I think I attained this goal: 1. The enduring relevance of Husserl s mathematical ba ckground. 2. Support for an early development of a theory of hig her order objects 3. A better evaluation of Frege s influence 4. A contextualisation of Schuhmann s thesis regarding the relevance of Twardowski for Husserl s notion of intentionality 5. The dependence of the unity of the Logical Investig ations on its historical development. Without understanding its developmental history we would misunderstand i ts internal coherence. In the first part we saw Husserl s early struggle to integrate the mathematical and psychological points of view on the philosophy of math ematics, a struggle that lasted from the Habilitationsschrift at least u p to and including his Doppelvortrag. The basic problem is the justi@ 257;cation of knowledge, in the case of mathematics, the justifica tion of knowledge in formal sciences, obtained with symbolic methods. Su ch problems regarding the subjectivity of knowing and the objectivity of knowledge guided the development of his position from Philosophy of Ari thmetic to Logical Investigations. In articulating his solution Husserl analysed the various relations betw een founding and founded layers of knowledge and whether and how one cou ld pass from on to the other. Already at the time of the Philosophy of A rithmetic he tried to account for higher order acts, relations and objec ts, the mature account of which would have to wait until the Logical Inv estigations and later. Among various influences on his progression towards phenomenology, Frege has been often considered to have provided the conversion to an ti-psychologism with his review of the Philosophy of Arithmetic. I think I have demonstrated that the review is almost entirely irrelevant in th is sense and that we should rather look at a much earlier influenc e on the Philosophy of Arithmetic. By showing that Brentano s conception of intentionality was already more sophisticated than until recently assumed, thanks to some recent public ations of unpublished material from Brentano s and Husserl s Nachlass, I think Schuhmann s thesis is right, but should be reinterpreted as being less radical than it would appear. Both Husserl and Twardowski were in& #64258;uenced by Brentano as his students. Following his and Meinong s l ead, they both elaborated a theory on intentionality, in connection with the other theories of intentionality in his school and the Brentano-Bol zano paradox. Furthermore, by providing a more continuous reading of Hus serl s development through the transcendental turn, I hope to have made clear that his later theory of the noema is not a return to a neo-Twardo wskian triadic position, but a reaffirmation, now in transcendental key, of his 1894 take on the matter. The Logical Investigations are uniquely determined by their historical c ontext in the middle of Husserl s development, falling almost exactly be tween the Habilitationsschrift and the Ideas. Due to their troubled hist ory, including changes in Husserl s earliest position around 1890, the f ailure of the second volume of the Philosophy of Arithmetic, various in& #64258;uences around 1894, and the subsequent reorientation and broadeni ng of his theories to a non-psychologistic logic and mathesis universali s, the Logical Investigations might at first seem to fall apart in two fundamentally disconnected books, the second one of which containin g six heterogeneous studies. It is my contention that it is exactly its troubled history that ties the Logical Investigations together, as Husse rl developed his logical investigations in the 1890s on the basis of a h andful thorny problems, including intentionality as centerpiece. From th e Habilitationsschrift to the Ideas it is the relation between subject a nd object, in all respects, ontological as well as epistemological, that guides his research. The Logical Investigations is a intermediate sedim ent of his struggles, containing an elaboration and improvement of his p osition in his early works and also pointing ahead towards the later pos ition of transcendental phenomenology as an implication and continuation of the solutions he proposes. Furthermore, I tried to address the problem that, while Husserl regarded his Logical Investigations as the breakthrough to phenomenology, many f undamental notions of the later transcendental phenomenology seem to be missing in the first edition of the Logical Investigations. The me thod of the reduction, the notion of a pure ego and a full account of th e noema are at most sketched or implied. Hence, I also looked ahead to t he further development of phenomenology after the Logical Investigations. As Husserl s influence has extended beyond the movement he found ed, I felt I could not bypass his significance for the currently d ominant analytical philosophy. Especially with respect to some of the co re topics of the Logical Investigations, but also earlier themes such as Husserl s semiotics, there is an interest in phenomenology from the ana lytic side. Nevertheless, precisely with regard to the unifying theme of intentionality, analytical philosophy often seems to miss the mark, and spectacularly so. I discussed Searle s influential, but in my opi nion, misguided and flawed approach, and I hope it is clear that I have chosen my method and approach in complete antithesis to his. The central contributions I was able to give, were only possible thanks to solid historical groundwork as necessary prerequisite for systematic analyses. Wherever possible, a reference to the original primary sources was provided, allowing the texts to speak for themselves and providing the reader with the critical instruments to evaluate my interpretations. As Husserl stood in a fruitful exchange with many other scholars, as st udent, colleague, friend and teacher, the intellectual context of his th oughts is essential to a correct understanding of his theories and aims. I hope to have found the right balance in the historical and the system atical aspects of my work to suit the interests of the reader and the re quirements of scholarship. (shrink)
