Abstract

In Strauss's criticism of Western modernity crisis perspective, the political thought of Mencius was a new interpretation, that the true essence of political thought of Mencius is trying to achieve through the political activities of human virtue, improve people's lives, realize that real good. This is to be our rights-based power or neglected by the modern context, but also most in need of modern politics. A new interpretation of Mencius' political thoughs is given according to Leo Strauss' criticism of the crisis of modernity in the western world. The essence of Mencius' political thought is how to complete human virtue and fulfill the goodness in society. Although neglected in the modern situation, Mencius' thought is precious and is most needed in the modern political life
