Abstract

_Materia Philosophiae_ anchors ideas of early Greek philosophers in the material world they inhabited by asking how circumstances of that world (difficulties of travel, bulky scrolls, innovations in architecture and technology, familiar household objects) shaped what became philosophy and science.
