Abstract

Throughout the analysis of mediated action it has been emphasized that cultural tools do not mechanistically determine an agent's action. Cultural tools, such as mediated action and mediational means, need to be employed in sociocultural settings as constructs in an ongoing process of controlled inquiry into human action. As long as new insights can be provided into the complexities of human action and as long as we can continue to do this in a way that brings the power of multiple perspectives to the human sciences, these constructs can be used in sociocultural analysis.
