Abstract

This chapter presents some concluding thoughts from the author. It argues that the puzzle of experience is both philosophical and _extra_philosophical. It is philosophical in that philosophical reflection is required; first, to formulate the puzzle; secondly to examine the formulation critically (that is, with a view to finding a mistake, to solve the puzzle); thirdly, to explain how the puzzle arises. It is extra-philosophical that, it the explanation given is correct, the puzzle is implicit in the content of our picture of the world plus the very fact that we have a picture of the world.
