Abstract

/// The article presents two disturbances in the concept of consciousness, which happened by the end of the 19th . and the beginning of the 20th., namely the ones issued from both north-american behaviourism and the upsurge of psychoanalysis. An exposition is given of the birth of Philosophy of Mind, emphazising its concern with conscious control of mental states. Controversies among reductionist and subjectivist theories are then analysed, as well as their main impasses.
