Abstract

In the context of the Great Acceleration of the Anthropocene, emergency becomes a permanent state. However, there are two main reasons why the urgency is not necessarily perceived: the fact that we have become habituated to portrayals of the destruction of nature and also the fact that the catastrophe is beyond anything we can imagine. An emergency requires a political approach to time. A permanent time in which politicians can act.
