Abstract
A large part of the ecological problems on our planet have arisen from the use of unilateral technologies whose negative effects on humans and nature were not recognized in time. Technology is generally based on disciplinary organized science, which due to the tunnel vision of specialized disciplines cannot grasp the impact on the whole. If the negative effects of a specialized technology are to be counteracted, one-sided specialized technologies and fields of knowledge are generally used, which also do not have a view of the whole. This is where the transdisciplinary approach comes in, which on the one hand tries to establish the unity of knowledge and its technological application (mode 1), and on the other hand wants to bring transdisciplinary science to bear in society in cooperation with the various stakeholders (mode 2). In contrast to the separately acting disciplines, which generally draw a fragmented picture of reality, transdisciplinary science strives for a holistic description of the real. The discovery of coherence as a central property of the living in several individual disciplines represents an opportunity to arrive at a holistic science of life that removes the boundaries of the disciplines via an understanding of this property of life and its mechanisms. The further destruction of life by the analytical sciences is to be counteracted by a transdisciplinary approach based on coherence.
