Abstract

Cyberwarfare emerges as a new and pivotal front in global conflict scenarios, extending the dynamics of traditional wars into the digital era. This dissertation delves into the intricacies of cyber warfare, focusing on specific cases of cyber attacks and manipulations, particularly those occurring in the context of the relationship between Russia and Ukraine. By analyzing employed tactics such as breaching power grids and utilizing ransomware, the consequences of cyber warfare on not only infrastructures but also the social and economic fabric of involved nations are highlighted. Beyond technological implications, the work explores the concept of the “war among hackers” investigating ethical dynamics and the ambivalence of actions taken by groups like Anonymous. Emphasis is placed on the need for in-depth understanding and an ethical approach in managing cyber warfare, advocating for the role of “ethical hackers” as guardians of cybersecurity. In conclusion, the analysis proposes reflections on potential future directions of cyber warfare and underscores the importance of balancing digital security with fundamental ethical values.
