Abstract

The year after the Hume Society's founding in 1974 the members found in their mailboxes Volume 1, Number 1 of Hume Studies, edited and published by John W. Davis at the University of Western Ontario. To say that we were surprised would be putting it mildly. Without informing the Executive Committee, Davis had gone ahead on his own and created what would amount to the Society's journal and be seen as the Society's journal even though the two had no relation.
