While some contemporary Chinese Ruist (“Confucian”) philosophers either lament the loss of traditional Ruist-inspired culture or struggle with their identity within modern Chinese settings, Chung-ying Cheng (成中英 or Chéng Zhōngyīng) made the modernization of international Ruism and Chinese culture in general a practical project for his philosophical acumen.
