Abstract

A descoberta da penicilina por Alexander Fleming, em 1928, é uma das descobertas científicas mais marcantes da história da ciência, da medicina e da farmácia do século XX. Os autores sublinham o valor da descoberta e a transformação da penicilina em medicamento. De seguida expoem o resultado da sua investigação relativa à recepção da penicilina em Portugal na segunda metade dos anos quarenta. Alexander Fleming¿s discovery of penicillin in 1928 is one of the most distinguished scientific discoveries in the history of science, medicine and pharmaceutics of the 20th century. The authors point out the importance of this discovery and the transformation of penicillin into medication.
