Abstract

This chapter outlines the theoretical foundations for a new sexual politics for men beyond manhood, masculinity and gender that addresses the limitations of theories reviewed in previous chapters. Drawing upon new materialism, posthumanism and the ontology of Deleuze and Guattari, and feminist engagements with these ideas, it discusses the political implications of destabilising men, masculinity and gender. Bloomsbury Academic, 1987/2020) concepts of assemblages, territorialisation, deterritorialisation, schizoanalysis, microfascism, desire and molar and molecular practices are used to provide insights into ways of understanding and responding to men’s patriarchal subjectivities and practices.
