Abstract

Leibniz has a very special, and philosophically notorious, way of understanding what it means to say that a proposition is true. His best known and most important dictum on the subject is “a proposition is true if its predicate is included in its subject.” The present chapter consists largely of an explication, elaboration, and critique of this idea.
