Abstract

The quest to understand the nature of reality and consciousness has been one of the most enduring inquiries in philosophy and science. From the Upanishadic seers who proclaimed the unity of Brahman and Ātman to contemporary physicists probing the fundamental structure of the universe, this pursuit has evolved across disciplines and civilizations. Sat-Chit-Quantum: The Science of Consciousness and Reality is an interdisciplinary exploration that seeks to bridge the profound insights of Vedantic philosophy with the revolutionary implications of quantum mechanics, neuroscience, and consciousness studies. It interrogates whether consciousness is merely an emergent phenomenon of brain activity or a fundamental aspect of reality itself. The convergence of modern physics and ancient wisdom suggests that the classical materialist paradigm is increasingly inadequate in explaining the deeper mysteries of existence. Vedantic non-duality (Advaita Vedanta) and quantum mechanics offer strikingly parallel perspectives on the nature of reality, each proposing that the empirical world is not as solid or objective as it appears. Quantum physics challenges our classical notions of determinism, objectivity, and separateness, aligning intriguingly with Advaita’s assertion that ultimate reality (Brahman) is beyond the dualistic constructs of observer and observed. Neuroscience, in parallel, raises profound questions about the neural correlates of consciousness, the hard problem of subjective experience, and the possibility that cognition itself may be deeply intertwined with the fabric of reality.
