Abstract

This chapter focuses on Jewish choreographers engaging queer diasporic politics of the body in the 2010s and 2020s. Dances by Idan Cohen, Niv Sheinfeld, and Oren Laor mobilized queer citizenship for a more just Israeli society, whereas dances demarcating queer spaces through intimacy and affiliation by Sheinfeld and Laor and Lior Tavori, and those engaging gender fluidity by Adi Shildan and Dana Sapir, manifested queer Jewish life. Finally, Alon Karniel’s dances enmeshed queer embodiment and Jewish diaspora for binational queer Jewish artists. The chapter argues that the multiplicity within queer Jewish-Israeli work remaps Jewish corporeal diasporic boundaries and establishes Jewish diaspora as at home in the body.
