Abstract

Financial inclusion remains a challenge in many African countries, including Central Africa, where strategies like microfinance have had mixed success. Mobile money, introduced in Kenya in 2007 and spreading across the continent, offers promise for enhancing financial inclusion by providing basic financial services through mobile phones. However, it also brings challenges, notably in combating money laundering. Central African authorities have implemented regulations, but these may not fully address the nuances of mobile money. There is a need for tailored solutions to ensure that mobile money contributes to financial inclusion without facilitating money laundering in Central Africa.
