Abstract

In this article we present some aspects related to the so-called Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) mainly in relation to its prevalence today, we also address the characteristics of differentiated sensorialities in autistic people from the concept of sensory processing. For this proposal, we present a brief incursion into studies that describe sensory processing disorders in autism and discuss the stigmatization that people suffer within the autism spectrum. From the possibilities of overcoming the stigmatization proposed by Corrigan e Gelb, we elaborated a theoretical path that proposes, based on the author's ideas, (i) the protest based on the denunciation of discrimination, (ii) education based on information about sensory systems and, finally, (iii) the contact, by inviting the reader to get to know the people within ASD up close. This theoretical study suggests that the three paths pointed out can constitute favorable strategies for the formation of educators that enable themselves and their students to be part of the human community.
