Abstract

Doctoral students from the University of the Virgin Islands participated in the “From Strangers to Collaborators” research project, using phenomenological protocol writing. Triggering a unique approach, they were instructed to identify and develop a “most poignant experience” to guide their meditation. A sampling of five writings is presented. Key elements highlighted in the writing include how strangers may become collaborators, the Qualities of Transformative Phenomenologists, Deathworld themes emerging from the protocols, and indications of personal transformation that occurred as a direct result of engaging in phenomenological writing.
