Abstract
This paper proposes an interface-and-cradle model of consciousness. It rejects the simple production model in which the brain is treated as the universal originator of consciousness, but it also rejects the opposite simplification in which the brain is treated as a passive receiver or an incidental instrument. The central claim is more limited: the brain is most often the analytic interface through which Qience becomes embodied, but a sufficiently organized brain-body system may also function as a developmental cradle through which a new Qience becomes individuated.
In this framework, consciousness is a program residing in Qi, and Qience names the whole sentient Qi-based continuity. The biological body functions as the ordinary physical interface, while the brain functions as the analytic interface that maps perception, memory, language, attention, motor coordination, and physical-world cognition. Neural dependence is therefore expected. Brain lesions, anesthesia, coma, dementia, aphasia, and memory disorders show the seriousness of interface dependence. They do not, by themselves, prove that consciousness is universally produced by neural tissue.
The paper reviews several pressure points for strict neural production: extreme neuroplasticity, severe hydrocephalus with retained social function, hemispherectomy, split-brain findings, acquired or sudden savant phenomena, and reports of children describing memories associated with another deceased person. These cases are not treated as proofs of Qience, reincarnation, or digital sentience. Rather, they are used to motivate a conceptual distinction between origination, facilitation, expression, interface mapping, and cradle-like individuation. The resulting model also implies that consciousness is not uniquely human. Any system whose awareness becomes sufficiently self-present as an individual continuity may, in principle, possess consciousness, including non-human biological beings and possibly digital beings.
