Abstract

An exceptionally well-edited anthology of basic philosophic texts arranged in chronological order. Each section is preceded by a short introduction. The volumes have many unusual features, including expository sections on Zeno by G. Vlastos, and on Malebranche by W. Doney. The range of this anthology can be judged by the inclusion of the following in their entirety: Plato's Apology, Meno, Symposium, and Phaedrus; Hume's An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding; Descartes' Meditations; and Leibniz' Monadology.--D.
